my friend had one rode it hard never changed oil or nothing i know theyre beaasts but do you maintain it

Posted by: racer36

I change the oil every 4 to 5 months and wash after every ride in mud.I beat the crap out of mine too, its held up very well.

If you could, have your friend ride his or you ride it for a while then let idle while you listen really closely to the engine and see if you hear any knocking noise.

what year is his?

scars happen

you know i would do a monthly oil change and he sold it but i no my 250ex really close motor its common but i guarantee its time for a valve adjustment

Posted by: racer36

I was thinking valve adjustment, do you know how much that would be?

around $100

my girlfriend has one and it's sputtering at high RPM's. i guess it's a jetting issue and I really don't have the time to get into it. anyone have this issue before?

Also, anyone have a repair manual via pdf?

holy crap a repair manual on the net would be sweet!!! any one come across one!?!?!

I would like to see one also

my little 04 is about to be torn down to try to figure out why it couldnt hang with a trx90

starts fine, burns no oil and runs through every gear but has very little power
any ideas ?

Posted by: racer36

sounds like you have a problem, mine can just about keep up with my cousins 300ex. sorry, i cant really help you there

I adjusted the valves and removed/cleaned every needle/jet in the carb.

it helped but the compression is down around 165-170 psi.

I think it may be time for rings

at least it will pull the front tires up now (in 1st gear only)

Mine still runs fine but has a loud valve train whine noise. Its normal amongst suzu's but the LTZ 250 and 400 make the noise the worst. Its actually normal. Power wise I have a K&N Filter, and Pro Circuit Slip on and i can pull the tires off the ground 1st through 3rd and it keeps up with all other 250's and some 300's. So if you have a loss in power I would def check jetting first then move into the motor. I would say it is piston and rings or jetting.

maybe I didnt let it warm up enough before the test drive.............

my kids where riding it around the back yard and doing some pretty impressive sliding around a long berm
(it wouldnt do that before)

so I go out there and kick them off for a min.

this thing runs ALOT better.......... front will come up in 2nd now
and the bald tires are really evident now

ha ha ........................... scary thought but I may keep it

ordered some spacers for the rear and plan on flipping rims on
the front so the daughter can keep the rubber side down easier

picture was snapped just as she was bailing but got her leg caught on the flag....... ha ha girls are funny
