not trying to be a smartass but didnt he say what kind ? did you mean what brand or did you mean what size ? sorry im a bit confused on the wording part

i went one up in the back and it is perfect for trails and what not.. but you dont want to gear it down too much cause then you going to be shifting like crazzyyy

Yikes, good point. I just assumed because it really wouldn't matter what brand you run.

haha ya thats what i thought when i read the original post but then seen yours and thought ya that could be right too. haha. well it kinda does matter a bit. if you want it for just trails then you could probably go with a maybe not as strong chain which is made of a softer metal because you dont need it to withstand all the power you're throwing at it. if you want it for the track i would go with something strong made with a hard, strong metal so it can withstand all the power that is being thrown at it. but honestly its not going to make a huge difference on what kind of sprocket you buy, even the best ones break so just look around and do your research well.

if you are talking about sizes then, for the trails i would go with a smaller tooth sprocket in the front, maybe only one tooth or go up a few in the back because it'll be too high sped if you go the opposite way. for the track i like to have maybe 1 or 2 teeth bigger in the back because the 400 does have good power but not as much so it needs a bit of help to give it that extra more.

thanks i am kinda of new at doing mods to myquad so i am learing new thing all the time sorry for the confusion

dont worry about it. thats why i explained both things that i thought you meant. welcome to the sport as well.

"Primary Drive" is probably the best bang for the buck chain/sprockets you can get for a quad. 14/38 gear ratio is a great place to start as well. just be sure to replace it all or nothing. if you leave the old chain and replace just the sprockets, you will wear the sprockets out faster. they have to wear together to give you the longest lifespan.
