will a 85-86 harness fit a 87-88 engine? i know i would have to use the cdi from the engine that i am useing but other then that will it work?

I know nothing about the 85's, but 86-88 are the same, everything plugs right in. (I have a 88 harness on my 86) the only difference on the 89 harness is one of the stator plugs.

ok thanks. i'm going to try to get a 86-88 harness if i can but as we all know it's getting harder and harder to get anything for an r anymore. anybody selling a harness??

If you are looking for a new one, the 86 and 87 harness have been discontinued. I bought a new 88 harness about 6 months ago.

I bought it from Service Honda. I think it was somewhere around $70 - $80. Any Honda dealer should be able to get it for you.
