Reliability of head porting on 04-05 450R

I am considering having my head ported. Does porting lead to issues with overheating or the transmission having difficulties holding up to the increase in power? One of my friends who is a mechanic and owns a shop made these statements. What challenges have been found with ported heads?

There is no problems at all with cylinder head porting. In fact, it is extremely reliable modification since there is no moving parts involved.
