alright guys ive been getting a real bad tap and knocking lately so me and my dad checked the clearance on the valves and its showing up at:

Intake Closest to timing chain: .003
Intake Furthest from timing chain: .005
Exhaust Closest to timing chain: .007
Exhaust Furthest from timing chain: .009

or are they just in need of shimming?

any answers would be great

a reshim is all thats needed. as long as you don't have 0 clearance they can be shimmed. get your manual out and get it back to spec. you should be good to go. assuming there is no other damage.
