I usually run 93 octane in my quad but all i had available was 87 and it doesn't want to start with it, is the low octane the reason its hard to start?

no the fuel octane will not matter. you have another problem. maybe clean the carb or check your valves, battery, electrical. there are to many options to help without more details.

well I know its gettin spark, and the battery does suck but works when i use a battery charger, so im pretty sure its not the electrical. the spark plug looks perfect tan in the middle no carbon on it so i think my jetting is decent. when i ride it or rev it up, it backfires. I have a 12:1 piston with the 440 so thats why i thought it might be the octane

Your jetting is off.need to rejet.Forgot to ask did you do any mods to it like pipe, revbox, filter, etc and how long has it been doing this?

get a new battery. the elec. system needs a working battery to run and start right. working on a charger is not enough.
