(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: tapper1823

Hey just wondering if theres any MN riders on here

Posted by: turdboy

MN here....St. Paul

Posted by: tapper1823

Nice I live in Rosemount. What kind of wheeler do you have? were do you usually ride

Posted by: yfzrider310

Rosemont? Idk if you know were cannon falls is but I live down there and your not that far from me. Where do you usually go riding?

Posted by: tapper1823

Yeah i know were cannon falls is. i usually ride in clarke co. wis. the trails there are really nice. I sometimes go to the tri county that place in faribault. Where do you ride?

Posted by: yfzrider310

idk I think im gunna ride at my friends house whose got like 70 acres of ridable land but theres really not much in MN

Posted by: tapper1823

wow 70 acers. how do you like your yfz? im selling my ds650 and thinking about a yfz or a z400.

Posted by: XXXRACER165

I live in Ham Lake MN, kinda in the middle of Anoka, Andover & Blaine. I have a Honda 400EX. I usually ride St. Croix & Danbury. I've also raced before in district 23. My pop has a 450R that he has never raced.

Posted by: turdboy

I race district 23, and I have been racing at the Sandbox this winter. Start racing guys...there is a class for everybody. Season starts in April.

Posted by: tapper1823

see i can't really race right now i kinda have to heel before i start riding again! see!

Posted by: pods_BMOC

This Is YFZrider310's friend. He says to get for sure with the YFZ. The torque on the LTZ is very poor and has power that will bore you easily compared to the ds650. He has a 2006 YFZ 450 SE with wicked a-arms +2, these contribute quite abit to the handling. If you like to trail ride, they will be a hassle.

Posted by: yfzrider310

dude that sucks when did you do that. At least its to cold to ride in the winter haha.....although I did go riding yesterday and froze my nutz off.

Posted by: tapper1823

on nov. 25th.. it still sucks cause i snowmobile too ha

Posted by: yfzrider310

i wish i had a snowmobile

Posted by: tapper1823

Save up there def. worth it. i've snowmobiled all my life i have only had a quad for about 2 years now.

Posted by: red_kwad

Has anybody been doing any riding lately? I got my quad in December and I've only had it out on the lakes. Are there any Lakes in the Twin Cities Metro area that are better than others? I'm in Andover.

We were thinking about going to Tri-County but not sure if it has been ridden much. I've got a 400ex so it needs to be packed/ridden...

Posted by: tapper1823

its worth a try i would suggest going down there and checking it out

Posted by: XXXRACER165

Yo Red_Kwad! Whats up? I live in Andover too. I live right on the border of Andover & Ham Lake, what kind of riding do you do?

Posted by: red_kwad

Its a kinda long haul... but we might do it anyway.

I'm new to ATV's but I plan to do mostly trail riding, ditch riding, and f'ing around...

I'm definitely studding my tires for next winter.

Posted by: XXXRACER165

I'll buzz ya next time me my bro & dad go riding ok?

Posted by: red_kwad

Alright. Sounds good. Where do you ride thats close?

Posted by: Jnblaster05

Hey district 23 guys what kind of racing do you do im curious cause this is gonna be my first year and im unsure of how this will go im gonna race the c class hare scrambles also i live in plymouth but do the majority of my riding in Cambridge mora area

Posted by: red_kwad

We went out to Tri-County on Sunday. The conditions were decent. Not much snow, but it was drifted in areas that made it hard to ride with a 2x4. After some tracks were laid down it was ridable. Most of the hills were ridable but there was ice hiding underneath the snow in some places. And before we left the flats were getting pretty bumpy.

It didn't look like anyone had been out there in a while, maybe since the last snowfall. It was nice to have the whole place to ourselves.

Posted by: rundrave

have any of you guys ever rode at Appleton. Its in the far West part of the state?

Ive heard mix reviews and want some more info before I drive. Its not too far from me, but we have absolutely no place to ride anywhere near here. I think its open to trucks as well.

Posted by: Jnblaster05

I race D23 harescrambles in the A class. I was the class rep last year and my buddy is the class rep for this year.

If anybody wants to try out a harescramble, we will be a having a few QUAD ONLY races at the track in Northfield, MN this summer. It is tough getting enough entries to break even (after paying for the ambulance and insurance), so bring as many friends as possible! The track is about 70% woods/30% mx with a few nice hill climbs mixed in.

Also - You don't need the fastest machine to do good while racing a harescramble. I will be racing a Z400 and I'll be towards the front.

Posted by: bartlettracing

Well dan you will need to get ahead of me Im gunna do a few laps this year ...

my quad is sitting ready to go ... Ive been riding about 1hr a day at my track ....

Posted by: KWAD_MAN_5000

What's up fellow Kwadders

Eric in Maplewood checkin' in. I'm friends with Red_Kwad and I also have a 400ex, but mine is yellow so it's faster than his.

Let's do some group-rides fo sho!

Anyone else see the kwad ice-racing on Lucas On the Edge on Speed yesterday? If you haven't DVR'd or Tivo'd this show, DO IT NOW!!!

Over and out

Posted by: Jnblaster05

Ok, so what is a harescramble? Is there a website with info about the races your having? How about safety requirements, quad requirements, entrance fee, dates...

Answered my own questions here: http://www.armca.org/venue/hare_scrambles_page.htm

Never heard about it. What kind of races were they?

That's cool. I'm not sure how many i'll make either. I don't take it real serious anymore. Being too serious takes the fun out of it.

On a side note... Many times while I'm trail riding, I've come close to having head on collisions with people that are coming from the opposite direction. Having Cory die makes the close calls (that I've had) very fresh in my mind. The nice thing about riding at a race is that everybody is going the same direction. Let it all hang out...

Yes, you can race a 2 stroke. There aren't many restrictions on the adult quad classes when racing harescrambles.

Posted by: Jnblaster05

Yeah what he said

Posted by: tapper1823

So all of you guys want to hit up some trails this summer? we are all young? Im 19

Posted by: Jnblaster05

me and buddy are definitley game for some trail ridin were both 23

Posted by: red_kwad

I'm in.

Where's a good place to go?

Posted by: tapper1823

I usually ride in clarke co. wis. its a little east of eau claire really nice trails i've been there twice. other than there maybe danbury? i've never been there but i've heard good things about it.

Posted by: XXXRACER165

I like Danbury, I ride there alot..........sandy fast bermy whooped-up winding trail. It's great! Just look for these quads:

Posted by: Jnblaster05

so maybe a silly question where is danburry is it a track os state trail cause ive been made to understand theres no ditch ridin in wisconsin so where are these sweet trails i wanna ride em

Posted by: XXXRACER165

It's right in the city of danbury posted trail parking. If you take the Gandy Dancer, that goes into the MN part of the trails. If you take the trail by the highway into the gas station/resturant parking lot drive behind it past the Big metal shed your good to go. Just don't get lost.

Posted by: TheOutlaw

Is there a schedule/registration online anywhere for the hare scrambles you guys are talking about? Might be fun to come down from N.D. and try one.

Posted by: Jnblaster05

yeah d23 thers a raci in hil, city mn http://www.armca.org/

So who would all be in to go on a group ride? im kinda ahead of myself seening i sold my quad and have yet to buy another.. still cant decide what i want. Either z400/kfx/dvx or 400ex my question is how do the 400ex's keep up? i make mine into the 440ex with stage 2 cams and larger oil tank. what do you guy think im leaning towards the 400ex simply because its cheaper more reliable and aftermarket stuff is reasonable.

Posted by: red_kwad

I'd be in for a group ride. I don't know the trails, so it would be nice to go with someone who does.

I like my EX. I don't have anything to compare it to since its my first kwad and I haven't ridden much with other makes. Not much help, I know.

We rode the ditches in Andover last week. Not sure how legal it was but it didn't seem to bother anyone. It was really bumpy in places, oh and there's tons of trash too. I can't believe people litter like that, it was bad.

Posted by: Jnblaster05

yeah if i understand the rules right thats illegal cause there no riding in the 7 county metro area sorry but yeah im in for a group ride aswell me and 2 buddys one on a 400ex another on a raptor 700. I also went ditch riding this last weekend it was cold and rough and wetr but still fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: red_kwad

...But according to Andover City Code link, ATV's/Sleds are allowed on Rural Section of the map and on Round Lake and Crooked Lake. There were also recent tracks of other atv's riding in ditches too...

I'm pretty sure if you look at Anoka County code, it says Atv's are not legal but it says to refer to th city code...

Its all in how you read it... and the way I read it, its legal and I'm going to do it until someone tells me not to.

Posted by: atvrulz

I live in coon rapids, and i am looking for a place to ride in the andover, anoka area?
I race D23 mx and will also race some D23 woods races this summer also.
thanks for some feedback.

Posted by: Jnblaster05

Yeah i totally know what you mean about its how you read it and i never thought it made sense like east bethel is awesome for ditch ridin up 65. I will also be racing d23 hare scrambles this year, me and my buddy randy. Maybe see you out there i will be in c class its my first time....

Posted by: red_kwad

Posted by: tapper1823

Anyone been out riding yet??

Posted by: Jnblaster05

i was about two weeks ago but now i wont ride again till my first race may 11th

Posted by: gene holroyd

This weather makes it hard to get out, but when it was nicer out i've been riding on my mx track. I think it might be a short season, pretty soon it will be to dusty and hot to ride mx.

Posted by: red_kwad

We rode General CC Andrews park in Willow River on Saturday. The weater sucked but it was still fun to get out a ride. Its sandy there but there were a lot of big puddles.

Sunday we went up to the Soo Line Pits in Moose Lake. That was a good time. It was sunny and 50's all afternoon. The pit in the back is pretty big and has sandy walls. There are some trails that run through it too, good fun.
