I am in the process of buyin a new quad. I want a yfz but my dad dont want me to get a 450 cuz he thinks ill kill myself. I am lookin at the z. I rode the ex the other day and it felt like a piece of **** compared to the z. Im officially done with honda prodcust until they update their crap. All there stuff looks like aliens pulled it out of their arse, like the 08 ex and that new 700xx. Im a new yami/zuk fan i guess you could say lol. The shocks are soo much better on the z, and its liquid cooled, plus more power. Anyways im wonderin what you guys think about the situation. Are there anything i should watch for when buyin a z, like model year recalls or sumthin? thanx in advance for any help.

I know the 03's and i think the 04's had weak frames, if you can find one with a gusset kit on it though, there rock solid,
and i actually have mine for sale... http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthr...threadid=329537

the ltz 400 is a great all around quad sport. very sporty with alot of power. i own an 06 ltz400 and a 07 ltr450. they run neck and neck in tight twisty areas but the ltz can barely keep up with the ltr depending on rider. when i go riding with freinds i stick them on the ltr....????why??? the ltz tips easely. it has a great HP to wieght rashio wich is an advantige.it grabs great traction but alas that is its downfall.... tipping.... if you dont mind not having reverse i highly sugest the ltr450 even for a lesser expeienced rider. it takes alot to tip it.

i seem to have a nack for used buying questions i deal with more then just atv"s...sport bikes..MX bikes... like the man said check the over all body for dstructual damage. ilde say the most important thing is what you cant see visibly and that is internal engine damage or parts on the verge of breaking. ask what the atv's life span was used for. racing? trail riding? or just putted around? ask racing questions only a true racer will get sucked into a deep conversation wich will show the bike has had some serious wear on it. or lack of overall bike knoledge may lead to ether a very well taken care of atv or an atv in need of serious maintanence
take the atv for a ride just not around the block get it good and warmed up and ask if the owner if he doesnt mind if you romp on it. in the high rpm's will show if the bike has internal engine probs. so dont buy someone elses problem unless they drop the price dramaticly to make up for cost to you for repaires

They say the z400 has weak frame its just as weak as all the others when it come to mx tracks the big jumps etc, they all need gussets if you are riding that hard for just trail riding gusset arent that needed but a good idea I built my own gussets and had welder put them on cost me 50 bucks total,The Z 400 is a great quad to have pipe, regulator, jetkit, airfilter really bring up hps .I also have axle, front wheel spacers for better handling no more tipping feeling .
