what will be the best slip on for my 525xc
Posted by: ktmbill
FMF slip on They have been making for KTM for a long time now.
KTM sells them through their Dealers
Posted by: mcracer
FMF 4.1 CAN'T GO WRONG THERE, I'VE RAN THEM ON MY YAMAHAS
FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS, AND FMF HAS GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH KTM.
I KINDA LIKE THE QUIETNESS OF THE STOCK PIPE, I RODE MY RAPTOR 700 THE OTHER DAY AND THE NOISE WAS KINDA IRRITATING
Posted by: mcracer
JUST GOT OFF PHONE W/ FMF AND WILL BE LATE JANUARY OR FEB BEFORE PIPE IS AVAIBLE
Posted by: chad6713
HMF's are available. Go to their site and then forums section. Their dyno graphs are showing around a 5hp increase.
Posted by: patrickj75
Baldwin's will be out in january.
Posted by: ktm 525xc 696
are they any good better than hmf in over all power gain and torque
Posted by: patrickj75
i don't know the numbers yet. i have 1 on order for my 450.

DASA isn't a big slip-on company but I am sure they will be offering a full system which will likely be the best on the market. Akrapovic is the "official" exhaust of KTM if you will but you are going to pay almost $900 for the full system.
In my opinion, there is a reason why some exhaust companies seem to have units available before the quad is even out while others take a few months (or longer) to come out with theirs ... it's called R&D. I've seen dyno graphs where FMF exhausts in particular produce less horsepower than stock. All they do is take a canister that fits, adapt the headpipe flange and a mounting bracket and say "here ya go." Companies like DASA spend serious time developing a properly tuned unit that looks and feels the best for the quad's characteristics.

Mind sharing those Dyno graphs here? I'd love to see them, i find it hard to believe that FMF would release one that would produce less HP than stock.
Posted by: mcracer
If someone is using fmf right now it wasn't made for the quad motor, they haven't put them into production yet. I know everyone says the motor is the same as (whatever and which ever) if that was the case everyone would already have pipe for it.
I talked to FMF yesterday and the 4.1 with mega bomb should be ready mid Feb and the db should be around 99db and 96 with quite core.
I too find it hard to believe FMF would make a pipe with lower horsepower than stock. What would be the point?

Agree.
Perhaps they put it on w/o rejetting or simply a case of false or misrepresented information?
FMF Makes a fairly decent pipe.
Posted by: ohiomotoxer
OR............certain exhaust pipe companies get the machines way before you do.......
We had a Can Am DS450 in September and the KTM in October.
Posted by: ktm 525xc 696
im not gunna even get a slip on i dont think im gunna see how it is jetted correctly cause the silencer onb the quad is already pretty decent and i was told that there wasnt that big of a diff between a rejet and a slipon and rejet cas the slip on is already pretty good
Posted by: didntseeitcomin
No matter how long it takes I'm waiting for Dasa. Nuf Said
Posted by: ohiomotoxer
burrrrrrrrrrrrrrp kool !
Posted by: barone
I spoke with Dasa yesterday and they have not recieved a bike yet to start on a pipe! He said i could drop mine off and he will make the pipe, but one problem im in NY!! So if anyone lives near their factory go give him your bike so we can get a good exhaust system!! Oh and the same with curtis sparks they are waiting for a bike also!!
Posted by: pods_BMOC
You should definately wait. Are you willing to race, or trail? The stock puts out 92 decibles, and FMF around 98-99 its too loud to race. You should wait a lil while for something better to come along.
Posted by: TheNewn
There's a magical thing called quite core that FMF has. And its not even released yet, who's to say what it sounds like or how it performs?
Posted by: pods_BMOC
thats what im sayin, just wait for the quiet core, loser.
Posted by: yfzrider310
You gotta first say what kind of riding your going to be doing. But Id check out yoshimura website they got some nice pipes that should be out for ktm anytime soon.

THE FMF 4.1 IS GAURNTEED TO BE AT 99DB AND WITH MEGA BOMB
IS SHOULD DROP IT 1 OR 2 DB AND W/ QUITE CORE ANOTHER 1 TO 3 SO YOU WOULD BE AROUND 96 OR 98 NOT SURE WERE YOU RACE BUT WE HAVE 101 MAX AND THEY ARE GOING TO LOWER IT EVERY YEAR TILL THEY GET TO 96 SO YOU WOULD HAVE SEVERAL YEARS TO RUN THE PIPE BEFORE YOU NEED TO CHANGE
Posted by: realbadlarry
Don't want to sound like an arse, but "Just" being legal is not helping our future. If we know that 96 (or lower) is going to be the rule, then why not get a pipe that quiet now? Even tracks are closing all around the country due to noise, and a lot of track riders take their quads/bikes out to public lands to ride also. The whole quiet bike thing is one little way we can beat them(the enviros) to the punch. The performance gains of a 99 or 101 db pipe over a 94-96db quiet pipe are not big enough that 99.9% of the riders here would notice, but the noise everyone will.
It's kind of rough to bring up the old "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem" but hey, we lose more tracks/land every week now and I want someplace for my grandkids to ride.
Posted by: pods_BMOC
You tell em. If i were you i would wait.
Posted by: yfzrider310
PODS dont think thats guys write up was awesome and I totally agree with everyone going quiet unless its totally cool with all the people in your neighborhood. Also if your riding in state land its probly not the best idea to be running loud quads out there so that people end up complaining and the government has to shut down all of our awesome land to ride. I personally like loud quads but it wasnt worth getting the cops called on me evey time I started it up so I decided to get a yoshimura rs7 exhaust so I can ride wherever without people complaining. Just my $0.02

Perhaps you misunderstood me. The WHOLE PIPE isn't even released yet. Not just the quiet core, which will be released at exactly the same time. Loser? Yeah whatever.
And i believe that FMF will make the quiet core put the pipe at 96 decibels.

Working on it (driving 5 hours & dropping KTM off @ Dasa). As for Sparks, I was under the impression they DID have a bike there doing a build and/or exhaust but, that might just be here-say. Still, I should have my quad there this Friday.
Posted by: 60beer1
Did they happen to say how long it would take for the to make one once they got your bike?
Posted by: bulldogge
I talked to sparks last week and the guy there told me they had access to a bike already but hadn't started to work on it yet. He said it probably wouldn't be until mid to late summer before they would have one. I offered my bike cause he's an hour away but they said they had one already. N motion says they don't have a bike yet, CT says by the end of January their pipe should be ready, barker performance will have a dual system but he says not until late summer, LTE says same thing. Eddie sanders and Ron woods isn't sure if they're making one yet, depends on demand. I wanted a good dune/drag pipe and I've done a ton of calling around. If you guys call these pipe manufacturers it would help, a lot of them think that not many of these bikes are being sold so the demand will not be too high. Call in and it may get them into their R&D sooner.
Posted by: Tastykake Kid
5 hours there, 5 hours back. The bike is there! Pipe should be done in a week or two. There will be lots & LOTS of testing going on before the final design is settled on. Dasa always makes sure their pipes are the best they could possibly be. That's why I don't mind driving 700 miles. I want the best exhaust available and I know Dasa will offer exactly that. I bought the best quad available and I'm having the best engine builder design the best pipe for it.

Keep us posted on availability....I called this am to find out on possible time frames for an exhaust on that bike and the lady that answered the phone said they didn't have a bike yet and probably wouldn't have anything for the KTM until maybe late February or early March. I called DASA in Riverside CA is that where you dropped your bike off?
Posted by: hasbeenttduner
bulldogge
call ESR back and ask them about doing a one off for you.

I would call back and ask for Brandon (or Dan). It's there.
Posted by: bulldogge
I called and left a message.....the lady that answers the phone isn't really that helpful and kind of gave me the 3rd degree....do me a favor and keep me posted on the info you get since you seem to have a line on them...thanks in advance....Bryan

I'll keep you posted. I'll start a new thread once I have pic's and/or more info.

bingo...and i would go wit the akropovic
Posted by: TheNewn
Bingo what? He STILL has not shown dyno's or links or anything where an FMF is supposedly making LESS horse power.
Some companies get quads sooner than others. It's that simple. A BIG name like FMF in the exhaust world would have more pull i imagine to get a quad sooner than a comparatively small company like Dasa.
Posted by: mcracer
I installed my FMF 4.1 and here are a few pictures. I'll post results as soon as I have them. By the way Akrapovic isn't the only exhaust company who works close w/ KTM look in your hard parts catalog and there are plenty of FMF pipes made for KTM.
