Gasket sealer on center case gasket?

I'm in the process of putting my 250R motor back together and wondered if I should use a gasket sealer along with my center gasket or just the gasket by itself? The manual only says a gasket but after reading horror stories I'm wondering if it's a good idea or not. Any info or opinions are appreciated.

I'm not sure if your supposed to or not. I always have used Hondabond. That stuff does wonders. Every motor i have done has been rebuilt with it. Including my cases.

I wouldn't do it myself. I'd be worried the cases wouldn't be shimmed far enough apart to let the transmission work properly. Not to mention the cylinder might not line up on the dowels anymore and those cylinders are a tight enough fit already.

If you're worried about sealing problems, apply a very thin coat of gasket sealer on both sides of the gasket before assembly.

use hondabond or yamabond

I still have a tube of yamabond from when I rebuilt my Banshee, I think I'm going to try a thin coat on the case halves and then use the gasket.

I normaly use some Three Bond 1211 on the left side case half around the crankshaft area just to be sure its sealed up good but not on both sides of the gasket.

I went ahead and used the yamabond around just the left side. Thanks for the tip!
