I'm buyig a set of 450R front shocks for my 250R. The question I have is what length of a-arms do I have to get so it won't be sitting so high in the front. I use the bike for xc and some light mx. Any help is great, thanks. Also will a 450R rear shock work n a 250R. Thanks again.

Im pretty sure that standard travel a-arms that are wider than stock all use the same length shock as a stock 250r does. Which means that simply buying wider a-arms will not help you. The reason they sit so high in the front with 450 shocks is because the springs are stiffer than 250r shocks. The 450 shocks arent really a good addition unless you have them resprung and revalved for the 250r.

The search button is a wonderful tool, and you probably would have gotten your answer faster. No a 450R shock wont work on a 250R unless you want it to handle like crap. And you need to have the front shocks revavled/sprung for your set up to make them worth having. If you keep them stock, put at least +1's or +2's on either side to make them bareable due to the increased leverage being put on them to counteract them being so stiff.
You're boned on the ride hight till they are resprung.

I know theres a dual rate, or triple rate shock upgrade for the 450r shocks. I THINK its PEP that does it. I would send the shocks to them if your going to have them resprung. But once you see the price of getting that done you might wish you had just bought some used pep's, axis, elka, or even work.
Also you never know. try the shocks and see how you like them.

Our site sponsor C&D racing will do a front conversion with 450r shocks for a 250r/400ex. Check out the budget 400ex build on the home page, it uses 450r shocks. I have posted on this subject a couple of times before, doing a search might answer more questions, because i run revalved/resprung 450r front shocks on my 250r, and race XC. THe rear will not b/c the linkages are different widths and completly different design and the 250r uses a remote resiovor and not a piggyback.

If you can get a really cheap pair of 450R front shocks, and get them valved and sprung for your 250R than its worth it, or you can always just order a set of works shocks, they are great improvement over stock and wont break the bank.
