Just wondering if a warn 1.5 1500 lb wich is strong enough for a polaris 500 sportsman to pull out of mud holes and up hills. Any help would be great.

does anyone read these things?????

No, a 1500 lb winch is really not good for anything besides being a retractable tow rope. A friend of mine has an old 300 Kingquad with a 1.5 on it and its not much help. He got stuck on a log on purpose and wanted to try his new winch out and it was a real strugle for that winch. I don't know first hand but i've heard that if a person uses a doubling pully, they work a little better.

thanks for the help..Now another question..I have a 06 TRx 450R sport quad and was thinking about putting the 1.5 on that. Think that would be good enough for that. I do not know alot about winches.

I had one on my 400ex

If you love the mud like I do, and enjoy flying past 4x4s', just get Mud Lites all around. The Winch was good for certain things, not all.

I am jumping to the 4x4 world myself. Its not worth it to put a winch on a sport quad.

i have a 1500lb on my ltz ,love it, seams like i will all ways use it at
some point when on a trail ride , me tiring to get over a log or pulling a buddy out of the mud.
if you were to keep a snatch block with you at all times the 1500 will work in most situations ,but its still on the light side and a snatch block cuts you fpm in half.
for a 4X4 a 2500 or bigger ,bigger is better!
