400ex axle on a 300ex?

Can you put a 400ex axle on a 300ex (with 300ex stock carrier)? If so, how much wider does it make it? Thanks

Nope, don't think so. The 400 and 250R are similar, but the 300 doesn't interchange with them as far as I know.

i tried it a couple years ago on a 250x, the 400 axle is longer thru the bearing carrier and the axle nut won't tighten up, 300 should be same as 250
