Chain slider problems

It seems some how that when I ride the drive sprocket on the motor gets into my chain slider. When I'm stopped and looking at it there is no interference. Anyone have any idea why I keep chewing up chain sliders? Quad is a 89, stock frame with a houser swing arm. Here a pic for reference.

Maybe a dry unadjusted chain? front sprocket too small?
The chain is supposed to drag on it to a degree but it should last a long time before you chew it up .Are you maybe gettin big air all the time on this bike ?thatll do it too!

My 88 with the stock swingarm has grooves from the chain in it.

all of mine have grooves from the sprocket. Are you using a 14t sprocket??? I don't think this happens with a 13t, I know a 15t is really close to the swingarm.

Swingarm bearings going bad or motor mounts are loose or maybe broken allowing the motor and swingarm to be pulled closer together under power?

I just put that exact same 400ex slider on my Houser swinger. The 13 tooth front sprocket I'm running now is so damn close to touching it, I don't know how it hasn't rubbed yet.

If this is a new problem and you've been running the same swinger/frame/slider for a while now you most likely have some bearings going out. Everything jon370r posted is what I'd look into.

Jack your frame up and start wiggling some things to find the sloppy bearings, etc.

It is a 14t sprocket which I know is close. The swing arm didn't seem terribly loose but since I'm in the middle of a tear down I'll be replacing them. Thanks for the help!

my 88R was doing this so I took everything apart figuring 15 years of MX abuse had tweaked the frame a little, swapped it all over to the 86 and it still rubs. IDK i gave up trying to fix it

what i do (since i run the '88/'89 swinger and is much closer to the rear of the engine) is with everything loose, place a wooden wedge between the swinger and engine. then tighten every bolt back up. this will give you more area.
