What do you guys think the average cost of a full 250r rebuild would run? New powdercoat, rebuilt suspension, all new bushings & bearrings, plastics, electrical, brakes & lines, & fully rebuilt motor?

I am doing a frame up build. I bought a frame and a motor and went from there. As it sits right now i have about 8 grand into it and im about 72.9866% done. this is a almost full aftermarket except for the frame (thats next winter). If you are doing a rebuild you could come out looking really sharp and running great for 2 G's...easy.Pick your parts wisely, shop around and make good business choices(ive made one bad one on here...but thats a whole different story....to come soon....thieves suck!!)....Good luck...J

All these are ish depending on where you go.

Powdercoat - $200
Rebuilt suspension - $300
all new bushings & bearrings - $350
plastics - $385
electrical - $75-$300
brakes & lines - $85-$300
fully rebuilt motor? - $300-$1000

$2200 average, could be less could be more depending on what you do.

I have about $14,000 in mine, but it's pretty much a brand new Laeger pro-trax 250R.

depends if you are doing a regular rebuild so bike looks decent or a pro caliber bike build...

I figure if you already have the bike and just want to spruce it up and replace bearings and make it look nicer. You could do quite a bit of stuff for 2.5K if you shop around a bit. Look for deals.

Pappy can powder coat your things and his prices are pretty nice.

The motor is a huge variable. Even if it "runs", that doesn't necessarily mean that everything is perfect inside.

It's also entirely possible to have a "worn out" engine that STILL makes good power and runs really well. An old motor with a new piston/bore/hone will make good compression and run really well. But it might have a worn-our crank, worn gears, bent shift forks, and cracks in the cases around the bearings, and those issues will eventually catch up.

A "fully rebuilt motor" tends to run on average of about $1200, but it can easily swing anywhere from $500 to $3500.

Aside from the motor, the rest of the prices are fairly consistent. You are probably looking at a couple thousand at least for the other stuff, but it IS something that can priced and predicted fairly accurately. You can't really attach an estimate to an engine until you get inside it and look.
