525 KTM for big guy?

Just laid down a deposit on a 450KTM but was surprised at how small the machine looked...especially with my big 6'-3" 245 lb hyde on it. I was really excited to snap this machine up as being first in line, but felt it wasn't for me...I don't think the salesman had the nerve to tell me I'm just to big for the machine. Please tell me the 525 sits a little taller, if not I'll have to pass and stay with my Z400
......that 450 is one hell of a ride though

I'm 6 2, 245ish...
and don't have any issues, I have the bars as far forward as they go on the stem and almost want to move them back some. I find myself riding in a more forward and aggressive stance than my old Kawi 400(suzuki whatever). It's definetly not the same cruizin position as the 400s, but...the quad is 100 times better than the 400s. You will spend $4k to get a suspension close the KTM, and then another $2k in motor mods to be close, but still have a way over built suzuki that you will never get your money out of.

I'm 6'1" about 145lbs, and I didnt have a problem. I think maybe an inch longer stem would do the trick. Cant help you with the weight problem though. sorry lol

They are exactly the same bike, only difference being the cylinder and piston.

I'm 6'7" so I can sympathize with the problem you're having. The problem is that ALL of the new sport quads are being designed for the guys that race them who are generally of 'average' build: 5'5"-6'0" tall and 160-200#.
Just sit on any of them and you'll realize that. As larger people, we just have to learn how to adapt ourselves to the machine. Certainly, as was noted, some aspects of the machine can be adapted to accommodate us, but for the most part we are stuck with what is there.
Good Luck!

Have you considered looking at the Polaris Outlaw 525s? That quad is physically a bit bigger than the KTM so it may fit you a little better. It's a little heavier but you get Fox shocks and the great 525 motor.

Look into lower nerf bars. Tag makes -2 nerfbars for the YFZ, I dont know if they are out for the KTM yet. Taller stem and lower nerf bars should help

you mean a race peg design that would relocate the foot pegs lower on the frame.

Same Difference. The stem should help, and the lower nerfs would help lower your CG a little bit
