2007 Outlaw 500
Just noticed the left rear boot is torn and grease on inside of wheel.

Is this a warranty item? Are these hard to replace?

Thanks

ACTUALLY IT IS UNDER WARRANTY A FRIEND OF MINES HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT WAS COVERED BUT THE SOONER YOU TAKE IT THE BETTER AND WHILE YOUR THERE TELL THEM TO CHECK YOUR WHOLE REAR END BECAUSE HIS WHOLE SPROCKET CAME OFF ON BEFORE HE EVEN GOT TO DO HIS 10HR SERVICE

My 525 had one rip, it was not warranty. I bought the boot and replaced it myself. I thougth it was fairly easy to replace, took me about 1.5 hours. Took me longer to get it cleaned up perfect it had water and sand in it.

Thanks for the replies.

I called one of the local dealers and asked if it was covered. He said it wasn't, it would be under normal wear and tear. Said something could've gotten in there and ripped the boot. He said it would cost about $200 to replace.

I saw the kit online for $25 bucks and the service manual for $40. I think I'll give it a try myself.

Thanks

I didn't really expect them to cover it. Mine was out of the 6 month warranty and i really think I rammed a stick through it.

man so your warranty was over woth ..man thats when all the bs usually happens luckily his happened b4 his 10hr tune up

My warranty period is not over with. I even purchased the extended warranty.
I kind of figured it would fall under the wear and tear clause though.

Though I have a bad taste for Polaris I have to give this one to them....... CV boots ripping is a simple wear and tear issue. I would just do it myself too. Its VERY easy.

I think I've decided to change it out myself. I've had a buddy tell me it's relatively easy to change out as well.

Outlaw 50 - Did you ever get your bushing/control arm rubbing issue worked out? On mine, the dealer ground the tabs down on the lower arms but didn't change out the bushings. He told me that although Polaris did change to a different bushing, it was just a manufacturer change. I Dunno.

Posted by: Outlaw 50

I ground the tabs off. Polaris did nothing to help with the issues I have.....

Received the replacement boot in the mail today. I even got me a service manual. Everything was going great until it came time to pull the CV joint off. I can't find the snap ring the lets the joint come off of the axle. The manual shows it plainly residing in a recessed groove. There is no groove on the actual joint.

Any suggestions as to removing the joint?

Thanks in advance.

I'll make this it's own post as well....

my dealer covered it under warranty

I couldn't find it on mine either. I ripped my inner boot so I just took it apart there. I read and reread the manual several times in that area and never could find the recessed area that shows the snap ring.

I wouldn't think that would be the solution, to have to take apart the whole shaft just to fix the outboard boot. Thanks for the reply.

Any one else with any luck?

TIA

DM

So... I finally fixed the boot.

There is no snap ring in my CV joint. I had to beat the joint off with a rubber mallet. There is a ring that is on the shaft that holds the joint on.

After that, everything went relatively smooth

That is how the inner joint comes off also. Must be a typo in the book.

Where can I find the best replacement boots for my outlaw 525 I have one torn and needs replaced

Posted by: nytfr8

Inner boots are dealer items
