what kind of advantages are there to having a extended swingarm for the dunes? any opinions about the elka dune suspension? is it still good for off sand jumping and trail riding?

The dune valving on Elka's is a softer valving to match the softness of the sand. Their are many typed of valving you can choose for your riding style. If you ride a lot of dunes, you should get the dune valving. Here is some reading material for ya.

A longer swingarm will change your center of gravity. Long story short it will make it a bit more difficult to bring your front end up. Thats good if you like shooting holes but bad if you like doing wheelies. I know a guy with a 450r that swears that he needs a +4 but I also know a guy who makes swingarms that says a +1.25 if more than enough for stock or lightly moded/ sand applications. Depends on what you really want your ride to be like.
