My winter rebuild.

well i guess since my quad ****ed up yesterday on my way home ill start a rebuild thread. What happened- well i was almost home and all a sudden my but locked up first thing i checked was to see if the chain wraped around the front sprocket nope. so got it home and tried to see if the rear wheels would kick over, well they didnt which means my motor was locked up. so took it around back and into the shop and tore her down one step by one step. well i got the the cylinder and i saw a ring sticking up from around the piston, and i said to myself thank god it wasn't the bottom end. So we got the cylinder off just to find out that the sleeve was all shattered through out the bottom end. Which mean im gunna have to take the case out and split it to clean all the little pieces of the sleeve that are in there.

and well hear are the pics i have so far of it. and yes you can tell me what you think of it, im just in aw cuz we just go it rebuilt and it dose this.

dam man, that sucks, there definatley some extensive damage to the top end,

i still have my jug and piston....

haha ya i was thinkin about talkin to you about that, but i think it goin back to stock. cause if its stovk its gunna last alot longer then what this is lasting me.

Butt if i do decide to go bigger ill let you know right away.

dang dude that sucks... i remember my first time out on mine nothing as bad as yours but my rear bearing carrier was destroyed ruined my day of riding...

ya we are gunna get the bottom end out to some guy that my dads buddy has build his micro sprint engines, tear her apart and clean it up reall god and put back together. So hopefully we will get it back together soon. Anybody with a stock cylinder and piston that dosent need it anymore let me kno cause im gunna be needing it, i may just buy a brand new stock piston through the honda shop insted of used.

that happened to me twice this past season once at a home track on once at a wpsa. we came to the conclusion that it was due to too low of octane. my sleve blew apart and tore up the counter ballance gear to the crank.....

ya well idk what caused it ever since we bored it out iv ran 93 octane. and ya if it wasnt so ****in cold i would washed it butt its all clean now and got a new coat of paint on the frame.

And lets hope nothing major is ****ed in the bottom end.

well got some good news, im lookin at gettin a 04 bottom end and cylinder with good stock bore sleeve. I have got alot done with it actully, got the frame all cleaned up and lookin good, cleaned all the plastics n stuff that bolts up. painted a few things also. i will get pics up sometime soon, another good thing is we are gettin snow up here haha ill take her outside and get some pics tommara.

I have never seen a sleeve come apart like that. That is crazy looking.

thats from detinatation. happend on my friends 300 as well. he didnt even get threw a tank of gas of 87 with a 12:1 piston. i told him it was pinging but he said one tank wont hurt it.

OK guys got some great news, i just bought a 04 bottom end and cylinder off a guy on ebay. i am still cleanin up things and paintin stuff. soo look out for some new pics and update from me.
Cant wait to get her back up and runnin.

One real quick question, what do you guys think about por15 for my a-arms so the paint wont crack off and keep lookin good, and what all colors do they make. Do they make a red?

OK guys so iv been bustin my *** to get this thing done. i got my a-arms blasted and painted the uppers read and lowers black, ill get pics of it tommara. im goin through the whole thing makin sure everything is good and fixin whatever needs fixed. Im lookin at gettin some bars soon.

got my bottom end, cylinder and a surprise a piston with rings. so now i may just need a gasket set insted of rings and gasket.

Hey I see u have a light mounted in the push bar, does that really give u that much added vision at night, I do a lot of noght ridin and could really use it.....and if it works GREAT, how did u hook all that up?

i have that and another up top in the 250r hood. both are halogen so they give off A LOT of light. and i just wired them into the old wires. will be wiring them into a new switch cuz im gunna get rid of the whole switch module and use a db kill switch for a start button.
