HELP 1996 LT80 Starter issue

I just purchased a 1996 LT80 and the Electric starter does not work. It turns over but does not engage. After looking at the starter I can not figure out how to remove it from the engine. It looks like the engine needs to be removed then disassembled to remove the starter. Has anyone removed one before and if so how difficult is it to replace. Please Help.

They are a pain to get out. I stand mine up on the grab bar, take out the motor mount bolts then use a engine lift to pull the front end a little higher, so there is more room to get it out. You have to twist & turn the starter all different directions but it will squeeze out of there.
My starter was doing the same thing so I took it out & cleaned it real good & works like a champ now.
