400ex w/ cr125 engine?

I found a cr125 engine really cheap, and i know they are 33horsepower. It also has a pipe system with it though.

I was wondering, if i put that motor in my 400ex and dropped down a tooth, what do you think?

Would it be fairly quick compared to a regualr 400ex??"

im not sure that a 125 would have enough tourque to push a quad.

I'd agree, i dought you're gonna have any gain over the 400 motor, those things seem quick in a dirtbike but a quad has 2 wheels in the back to spin and a hell of a lot more wieght to push i'd just stick with the 400 motor, but a 250 engine would be a different story.

thats what i figured...
what about as a moped engine!

lmao, jk/

I dunno...I would think the cr125 motor wouldn't be that bad. A polaris trailblazer only has a 21 HP 2 stroke and it can move those heavy pigs around okay. A 400ex chassis is much lighter. I bet it would make a decent youth quad for a tall rider. I highly doubt it will beat or even keep up with a stock 400ex though.

i wasnt talking about hp. i was talking tourque. a trail blazer makes alot more tourque then a 125. you would have to clutch the crap out of it to ride it. it would not be a gain over the 400 motor. how ever the cr250 would be.

You might be right about the torque issue. I doubt the trailblazer really has all that much more torque than the cr125 motor though. I honestly don't know the TQ specs for either engine though. I know the polaris my wife had didn't have much torque at all but some of that may have had more to do with the CVT trans. I agree the cr250 would be a better choice.

dont do it, if you do put it in a smaller quad... a 90 would be sweet but the trx 90 has what i think is the worst a-arm and shock system man has ever made.

if you insist on a 2 stroke, go 250cc or higher, a 250r is fast, but stock to stock the 400 and 250r are close. if youre not going faster, whats the point?

What?

250r in a faster bike stock for stock, in the 400ex it would still be faster than the stock 4ooex motor, and i also like the 2-stroke kick more.

And also, you can make 50hp in a 400ex for 3 grand, and 50hp in a 2-stroke for 1200 lmao.
