The CRA race at Hole in the Wall raceway this past Sunday had four 250R's, the most I've seen at a local in a very long time. Three of those four finished in the top ten OVERALL out of 84 entries. I'll try to post pics of the 250R's that were there, one of which was ridden by Norm Bish. Those who were around the GNCC years ago will know who that is.

Its sad to think that some day racing 250rs will be considered vintage racing!

I haven't had time to transfer them to a new picture hosting site yet, but when I do I'll get them posted up.

Norm Bish. I have an interesting story about his quad, which I'll post when I have a little more time. Check out the factory Hondaline front bumper.

That's part of the story. At one of our CRA races last year, one of my buddies (would be a decent A class rider in GNCC) who races Senior II on a relatively stock YFZ with me, asked me what was done to Bish's R. Seems that my buddy came out in an open field section about 400 yards long, had his YFZ tapped out and Bish just flew by him like he was standing still (his exact words). At the next race, I looked over Bish's quad pretty well, and saw it was running a stock pipe and stock carb. I asked him what was done internally and he said it was stock porting, bored .010 over, NO other mods. In fact the only aftermarket stuff I see are the Ohlins front shocks, the FMF silencer, IMS tank, and the bars. I personally wouldn't have thought a stock R would pull a YFZ like that, but Bish made my buddy a believer. Norm's quad is actually an '88, just has an '89 seat and fenders.

I love it. I'm hoping to get some other guys I sold 250R's to, to come out racing with me next year. We'll probably be the only ones. I'm going with the same color scheme that Norm has, but with some graphics.
It's funny to see the "RACE" quads not plastered with sponsor stickers and surprisingly few beadlocks.

Thats awesome to see 250r's still being competitive in racing. You get bragging rights for beating new machines on a 20 y/o 250r!
