These bikes have been out a little bit and i know some of you have them, or have owned them! Post some pictures so everyone can see and share your joy for this beast of a bike!

Posted by: pbell75

Here's a pic of my buddies 525. Hope he doesn't mind me posting this w/o his knowledge. he's humble and doesn't like to show off his stuff, so I do it for him.

Posted by: spanky101

ha, thats really nice looking! the orange hipers look really good on there!

Posted by: trx400EXtreme

daaaannnggg that thing is sick. i want one.

Posted by: Simon MX49

Sweet. I rode one last weekend at Crow Canyon at the KTM Demo Ride. I was impressed, the 525 was a little bit snappy for GNCC I think. Them Hipers are B*A, Im putting blue ones on mine

Posted by: mcracer

i got pictures too how do you post them? just copy and paste or what? "sorry i'm just a cave man i don't understand you modern ways"

Posted by: Scro

When you hit post reply, you will see a section that says "attach file". Hit the browse button, and find the pic. If you get an error, the pic may be too large, and will need to be resized in Picture Manager or Paint.

Posted by: mcracer

thanks will try tonight when i get home were the pictures are

Posted by: TWISTED DINLI

that is awesome lookin.

Posted by: spanky101

another way to post pictures is threw photobucket, and that is who i use.

go to photobucket.com, and creat an account. Then you will go to upload image, select the images you wish to upload, and click upload. Then you will see and image tag and it will copy it for you so all you have to do is paste that in your response at your favorite atv riding site!

What macine did you convert those nerf bars from? What kind of modding did you have to do?

Posted by: didntseeitcomin

Lots of details and more pics of the nerf bar conversion please.

Posted by: mcracer

I COULD TELL BUT I'D HAVE TO KILL YA (LOL) JUST JOKIN, THEY ARE OFF YFZ450 NOT TO HARD JUST GRINDED OFF THE PLATE ON THE NERFS THAT BOLTS TO GUSSET BETWEEN FRAME RAILS. HAD TO RAISE OVERFLOW BOTTLE ABOUT 1/4", DIDN'T HAVE TO DO BUT DID JUST TO BE SAFE THEN DRILLED 2 HOLES IN THE KTM BELLY GUSSET AND USED U BOLTS. PROBALLY STRONGER THAN THE LITTLE 3/4 WIDE PLATE USED TO BOLT KTM BRAND TO GUSSET. ALSO HAD TO DRILL OUT THE MOUNT HOLES ON STOCK PEGS FOR THE BOLT THAT CAME WITH NERFS. THEY ARE THE PRO ARMOR SPORT SERIES FOR A 07 YFZ 450. THEY WILL HAVE NERFS FOR KTM SOON I ALSO TEST PRODUCTS FOR THEM AND WON'T BE TOO LONG THEY WILL HAVE XC BUMPER AND FULL NERF W/ FAT PEGS. PM ME FOR MOR DETAILS.

thanks for photo bucket tip couldn't reduce size enough to attach from my computer, I like the easy install on damper but haven't gotten to try out through any tec stuff yet we'll see how good it is at 12hr this weekend. hey you wouldn't happen to be spanky from ntmx would you?
I'll post some better pictures after this weekend

Posted by: spanky101

nope, not me. Usually i post under speeddemon619 in other forums so if you see that username posting its me, and i live in ohio where my outdoor riding seasons ending but the indoor is just starting up!

Posted by: kd228

Can't wait to mod it up.

Posted by: spanky101

looks great! Already have some high quality mods on there with the hipers and flex bars. Im curious how everyone is gonna use this bike, for the xc like its supposed to and meant to be used or, like my plan, use it for some serious mx.

Posted by: patrickj75

i'm planning on using my 450xc (when it shows up) for TT/flattrack, ice, supermoto, xc and mx.

Posted by: RaptorLover

Any pics with the front fenders removed ?

that is sick lookin. i cant wait to see someone race one around here.

Posted by: spanky101

it makes me glad to see someone else around me who would have the same bike as me! I love having a ktm dealership 20 minutes away. SimonMX, i see you live in massilion. I live in Austintown, right outside of younsstown. Where all do you ride?

Posted by: Simon MX49

I do most of my riding at Shecks or Spring Valley, but Spring Valley is closed unfortunately, that place was amazing. I go to Outlaw once in a GREAT while. Elson Street, Crow Canyon, and I'd like to start goin to Beans again. Where you ride?

Tim lives out in the Lousville area somewhere, near Josh Upperman and Mark Kendall. I havent had a chance to ride with Tim, I'd like to one of these days. Hopefully if I'm on a KTM he'll help me set it up

Don't know if I would keep my front rims flipped like that.

Nice bike though!

Posted by: Simon MX49

I tried that once before I got my A-Arms, and I could feel the rims flexing when I hit a jump, it was stupid, and I changed it after just 2 laps. lol

Anyone looking for A-Arms and stuff should look at Bopp Racing, theyre a new company starting out. They'll be at every GNCC next year, and a couple WPSA's on nonconflicting weekends. The KTM parts arent out yet, but they are in the making, give them a couple months

Rath has their parts available right now also.

Posted by: spanky101

farr is origonally from astubula i think but im not sure if he still resides there. I cant wait to get this bike because this bike is gonna haul, garenteed

Posted by: redrider05

farr lives in the north canton area jus to clear some things up..

and with the kid with the 525 with flipped rims i raced with him that day..and yes i will say it has some power but it was racing with all 450 class machines that were all right there with him..75cc's is quite an advantage out there...i forget he also cut the stock silencer down atleast 6 inches if i recall...didnt sound all to bad i must say..overall i think there very nice machines and pretty competitive n mx with very few mods

Cmon man, you know damn well Dettlings motor aint stock. If its built right, any motor can keep up stock

So true.
I would like to see that 525 with big bore and stroker crank and then see if those 450 keep up

Posted by: madini

Looks like a couple of you guys used Fasst flexx bars and were able to retain the stock key/light cluster mount. From what I can tell that does'nt look too bad.Am I right? I'll be picking my 525 up next week and will be using my fasst bars on it...

Just a side note, the 525 is actually a 510cc quad. So it's only 60cc more.

Posted by: chad6713

who is making that hood???? I need one....

Posted by: quad97

Looks like something that would come out of the quad-tech shop.

Posted by: mcracer

on another post said it was off honda cut to fit

Posted by: patrickj75

i emailed Andy about it. its an 06 Quadtech 450R hood cut to fit.

Posted by: bryishre

you need to email andy agian and kindly ask him if he could give us some info on where to cut it and how to mount it so it looks stock like his set up thanks

How tough are the front fenders gona be?? I wish they would make a front fender that was all molded as one peice like the ol 250Rs and 400exS My darn trx450r fenders have broken brackets or snapped bolts more than a time a peice on each side!

all you ktm guys can hate on me..im jus stating what i think

How can you compare a 04 to a 08? Get a clue, were talking apples to apples here. 08 to 08. Anybody can buy a 4year old quad for near nothing. Try that with a 08 and then talk about it.

Posted by: Quadevil

If one is going to analyze how good any quad, any bike etc is, there's 2 ways to do it:

1 - Looking at it shut down, analyzing the extras, seeing how much hp/ftlbs it has, etc and deciding which one is the best for the money. In this perspective KTM 525 is the best quad, hands down.

2 - Riding it (amateur, pro...races)and seeing how it behaves. The conclusion we reach using this method doesn't depend on the quad exclusively. Much by the contrary, depends on the pilot, how good he is, depends on the pilot "kit de unhas" how we say it in Spanish "urban language".
By this method almost any quad can be the best in a race...

Stay

lol me get a clue?? dude you obvisiously dont see the picture im trying to paint for you..9 grand bike compared to maybe something worth 5 grand..that has minute mods done to it..i mean shouldnt a 525 be able to pull on a 450 honestly jus alil at least

compare 08 to 08 ok at my dealership we have new trx's we let go for lil over 6grand so that gives you atleast 3 grand to mod it..and im pretty sure new ones are a bit faster then 04-05..

all im trying to say is you buy something for that much and race it competively in like gncc but noone can keep a bike stock and after its all said and done you will have prolly 11-12 grand in something jus like anything else...to me thats ont worth it

like i said i think its a great bike for someone who thinks it worth it but for me its alil steep for that kind of money and what i do

Posted by: Quadevil

With $3K for you to mod the 08 trx you'd put better tires, better suspension, better brakes, better handlebar, kill switch and that's it! 3 grand flying
Even after that mods to a Honda, ktm 525 would be a better and faster bike because it has still more equipment.

Posted by: bryishre

dont forget the hydrulic clutch and i will not start a list of other things it has lol

Posted by: didntseeitcomin

Probably my favorite is it mainly I my only takes 3 differnet wrenches to work on and no bolts otlr washers.

Depends on where you'll use it. Dunes, desert definitely no

Posted by: mattg324

no not dunes, trails. i live in NY

Posted by: spanky101

the 450 is gonna be plenty of power and then some for just trail riding/racin. Some have said the 525 is almost too much power for the trail rider

Posted by: mattg324

too much? you mean like torque or speed?

Posted by: Quadevil

quote:

Torque, lots of it! you know, the people says the 525 is a bit too much for trails because sometimes, "the trees will get in the way", if you know what i mean

For trails, the 450 would be sweet. But i would still get the 525.
I just couldn't live, thinking that i could've got more

Posted by: mattg324

hahaahhaah, the trees get in the way. i get it. yea same here. i wouldnt want to buy the 525 and be playing bumper cars with the trees, but i wouldnt want to be thinking later on"what if i got the 525 instead" its always nice to have more power.

I agree, for me also, power is never to much
The others know about them, i know about what's best for me

Posted by: mattg324

same. you think the 525 is better than the polaris 525?

quote:

Yes. Better quality, lighter, more attention to details.

Posted by: spanky101

if you ever want the 525 after you buy the 450 alls you need is a new piston and cylinder jug and you have a 525! i love KTM! haha

Posted by: raptor0443

got mine yesterday

Posted by: mattg324

god that is so nice. well i am either gonna buy a ktm or polaris. either a 450 or 525 from both. i just cant decide. i heard the ktms front is bad, something is wrong with it?

Posted by: Dale512

Nothing wrong with the frontend on the KTM, but it could be better. More Rake on the frontend and maybe narrower at the frame rails would make it a much more accurate steering quad. I like the frontend geometry on the Outlaws much better and the suspension is much more plush than the KTMs, but the KTMs are better built and have better attention to detail.

It's a toss up, but for my money I would get the Outlaw and save a few grand for mods, but thats just me.

Posted by: buttfungus

I rode my friends 525, and my yfz is going up for sale and buying a 525 and I've only ridden my yfz 3 times!

Posted by: mattg324

yea i mine as well get the outlaw and just get mods. does anyone know if dealers can put mods on for you? cause im not good with that stuff.

Posted by: spanky101

any dealer should be able to put parts on for you man... just gonna cost and arm and a leg in labor charges! Pick up a shop manual once they come out with one and that will get you through just about anything and everything!

Posted by: mattg324

how long do you think that will be before that comes out? and also, when do 09 models for atvs come out usually. august? and is KTM gonna have a 09 model atv?

dont know who replied to this yet, but that wouldnt happen. if you were to make a 450R comparable to this quad you would be spending a total of around 11-12G's. that is including the cost of a new 450R. the ktm is worth the money. i am a honda guy, but i am buying a ktm as soon as i have the $$$

He's not taking in account several things as the build quality, equipment etc

Posted by: crazybob7596

I have had a 2005 450R, a 2006 YFZ both modified and now a 08 525 XC and I can assure you that the honda and yamaha is no where nere the KTM with $5000 in mods..If you could get it close you would still own a $6000 quad. When you could sell the KTM for much more money...A no brainer for me.
