Thinking about testing out my 03 400ex at the strip. It has K&N filter, White Bros exhaust, hotcams. What do you think the time will be???

Posted by: drew416ex

1/4 mile or 1/8?

Posted by: dabrowat

1/4 mile

Posted by: drew416ex

Not too sure about a 1/4. I have a built 416 and i ran a 7.10 in the 1/8.

Posted by: f150mann

you cant run the 1/4 mile, you will run out of gear, 1/8 mile yes

Wow what do you have done to that thing that is flying and where did you race it at?

any time slips? Jim

Posted by: drew416ex

Sparks x-4, port and polished head, hotcams stage 2, JE 12.5:1 piston, wight bros rev box, and stock gearing with 18" tires. Dont have the time slips anymore, it was about 2 years ago that i did it. I ran on a track in mississippi, but i cant remember the name of it. I hit the rev limiter, well the stock one, about 10 ft before i crossed the line.

Posted by: TURBO-530R

Are you sure about that time? I know what it takes to get a quad down the track 1/8 or 1/4 and with your mods I Just can’t see it sorry I was hoping you had the slip I would be really impressed with that. Jim

Posted by: drew416ex

I understand, not many people do believe it. If you knew me, you would know i dont talk just to talk. People just sound retarded when they do that. I will look for a slip, maybe call my cousin who i went to the track with and see if he might have one. What kind of times do you run?

Posted by: ride-to-live

My 440ex will hit 80mph... so i dunno what that would be on the strip?

Posted by: FoxHondaRider

1/4 mile you will be bouncing it off the rev limiter half way down the track to the end. 1/8 mile i could see you hitting the rev limiter near the very end of the track

i think ill put up the B.S. flag. until i see a slip. cause thats street bike territory.

Posted by: drew416ex

Well still havent found a slip yet, but I did call my cousin and found out something interesting that I didnt know before. The track is about 100ft short of 1/8. It is a NHRA track so i figured it was a true 1/8 mile. you can put up the B.S. flag all you want, i dont B.S. I dont believe in it. I think its stupid. And like I said, im looking for a slip. Now I wonder what it would what time i would run in a true 8th?

Posted by: TURBO-530R

Thank you for clearing that up.

Posted by: drew416ex

No problem. Told yall I dont B.S. I just didnt know it wasnt an 8th.

first off, all of NHRA's member tracks are either 1320' or 660'. ive been to alot of the back woods tracks in the south and have seen 1 that was 600' but it had no affiliation w/ nhra/ihra. and the reason it seems like you are bs'ing is with what you have listed you would be on a good day able to hit a 9.0. unless your leaving off the 50 shot from your list of mods. the times you are talking about youd need to be in the 75ish mph range to hit. and stock gearing w/ 18's aint gonna make that happen.

Street bikes can barely do it in 6's

hes talking in the 1/8.

Posted by: drew416ex

Really man, come on. I said I made a mistake. I didnt mean to get your panties in a bunch. Im glad youve been to so many tracks, but aparently you havent been to this one. It is a NHR

Posted by: drew416ex

This one is a NHRA sanctioned track. And i have got to know, why does everyone just assume that a 416 is slow. I cant tell you how many 440s i have beat, mainly because mine revs so much faster. And as far as speed goes, in a drag race, its not your top speed, its how fast you get there. So 75mph has nothing to do with it.

Posted by: firefighterjosh

Sorry didnt see it

Posted by: rooster_20

I used to run a 6.6 in 100ft when my ex wasnt built so you might do about the same depends on how well you hook up and how well you can drive, that was on dirt so on pavement you should be faster.

Posted by: 01440ex

stock street bikes depending on size run 10-11 in 1/4 mile....1000/s or bigger run 9s...or if u have a 600 with nitro or 900 with nitro like mine u can get them in the 9s

Posted by: JOHNDOE83

i ran high 7s in the 1/8th at moroso motorsports park with my 440 its no lie and neck and neck with a trinity racing 400cc banshee

Posted by: FoxHondaRider

whats a stock 400ex run? lol I know in an uphill drag on this dune I was running neck and neck with my cousins banshee with full pipes and a K&N, I was even running rich. We switched sides and I ran even faster because there were less bumps and I beat him. Pavement though... different story lol

lol....well thats your opinion.

Posted by: burnthesnikle

now i have to do mine...

Posted by: babiak400ex

I ran a best of 9.26 @ 69mph with mods listed and a 6 inch extended swingarm I had better 60 foot times than most bikes but they blew past me about 150 feet or less LOL. So I could beat them bikes in a 80 foot race. LOL LOL LOL

Posted by: ish416

I ran a best of 7.9 @ 76mph in the 1/8th at the Muncie dragway. Was hitting the limiter about 30 ft before the traps.

I was on my 416: 12.5:1, xr400 cam, ported, k&n filter, fmf powercore 4, stock gearing and tires, running on reserve, with a slight tailwind.

I got beat by a stock 01 Raptor, it was running 7.3s at 79mph. It had a dragbar and was stomping just about everything in its class. Second gear pinned from take off, poor machine, I'm sure second gear didn't last that long.

Posted by: FoxHondaRider

I think I just put all the banshee's I raced to shame when either running with them or losing by a half a length to 1 length because I did a compression test and it was only 85PSI lol Thats terrible when it should be 100 - 128PSI. Wait till I tell the guys I raced.
