No punch marks on the crackshaft.

Would the rod be at 1:00 when you line the drive gear and counterbalancer. Look at the old crack and has a punch mark on it. This hot rod crack has no punch mark.

my Hotrod crank had a scracth mark on it, which I assumed was to indicated where the dot would be. Thats how I assembled it and seems to be fine, over a year ago...

no problem, where in west texas are you? I grew up in Vernon and Snyder, went to school at Tech and currently live in the outskirts of houston...

The mark should be a 12 o'clock top dead center. Pick the gear spline that lines up with the rod when you hang the crank by the rod with your finger. I have gotten several hotrod cranks with on mark on them.
