I have a stock 86 250r, I have been fouling plugs within an hour (black and wet) mechanic is gonna go through my carb and rejet it too. Was wondering which klotz oil to buy? 50:1 or r50 etc..Just going to ride leisurely through trails, dont know much about oils but going to try klotz..dont know which one though..

I'm also going to be running r50 at 32:1.

unless ur running race fuel or other the r50 will be fine. the kl100 is formulated for race fuels and/or alki.

Strange how no one mentioned super techniplate, I ran it in my banshee at 32:1 and worked fine. I didnt really use it that much before I got rid of the bike though, probably 3 5gal cans worth. I was also running a 50/50 mix of 110 and 92 oct fuel . Smoke was usually low and never had any plug problems....(now Im stuck with 8 brand new NGK plugs and nothing to put them in)

kl-100 is super techniplate.

well in that case I was running KL-101 (super tech by the gallon) Sorry not familar with part numbers, I just seen everyone naming the 50:1 super techniplate and the R50 not the castor synthetic mix techniplate. Which I never thought to be formulated for race fuels. I do however like to stay away from straight castor oils, as Ive heard lots a bad things on them gumming up engines (Castor 929)

The R-50 is a very good oil. Super high film strength and great for high revving motors.
The flex drive 30 is also an excellent gear box lube that they offer.
What are you paying for R-50? 32.00 per gallon?

I have always ran castor 927 without any build up at all.

Why can't I run R50 with straight race fuel? I've been running it at 40:1 with 50/50 mix but since I just rebuilt my engine it's pushed my compression up to 215. I've looked at Klotz's website and I see nothing that prohibits race fuel.

because the kl-100 is specifically formulated for the race fuels whereas the r-50 is not. r-50 will/can have a tendousy to seperate after setting for a while depending on humidity and or tempurature.

Ahh, I see. I still have more than a gallon left, I guess I'll be mixing it in small batches to keep that from happening.
Once I run out I'll consider switching to kl-100.

ehhhhh!! i hear that. no need in letting it go to waste. if my mixed gas sets for more than two weeks, it gets used in the chain saws and weed wackers.

Then you're getting hosed.
Rocky Mtn sells it all day long for about $30, that's R50 and Super Techniplate.

I had about a gallon of my 110/93 mix fuel for the banshee, it was getting old so I tossed it in the chainsaw and my dad was running it. He got all worried it was running hot and stuff from it, It was mixed 32:1 compared to 40:1 recomended. He did say he loved the smell though haha
I did get hosed, but there are no shops around that stock it, and the one local shop wanted a deposit to order it?? So I started going to this other shop called IMX , they were cool dudes and I spent some bucks there. Well they said they were going to order us some in because they had some other people ask about it. So they got it and I paid their retail price. I usually only order through the net now anyway so next time....
