Tie rod jam nuts

Whats up guys.. the jam nuts that go on the tie rods before the ball joints. Do they go on counter clockwise (twist on opposite way then normal) or do they spin on normaly?

I never had them on before believe it or not (the jam nuts) and recently bought a set..

Both. There are both left hand and right hand threads on each tie rod. I just look at the threads to see which direction the jam nuts spin off, I can't remember off the top of my head.

The threads are right hand (normal) on the side that has a squared off spot for a wrench. left hand threads on the other end.
