Sons 50 is having trouble taking off. If he starts off from dead stop and gradually accelerates it picks up speed no problem, but if he revs it up like he is at the gate and then punches it, it sits there for a few seconds and eventually takes off.

rollers 4.0
yellow mallosi tourque spring.
stock variator and pully.

any ideas?

Air cooled or liquid cooled , what carb is on the mini?

.
. when you say it sits there for a few seconds before taking off, what is the engine doing during the few seconds , is the engine revving higher and the quad not moving , or is the engine bogging ?

the engine does not rev out if seems like it is stuck in a high gear and eventually catches up. It seems more of like a bog. Or it is being held back.

Change out the carb to a Mikuni or Sunworld 16mm

OKOs w/o soem fine tuning are a headache

It seems to be a common problem for that off the line bog...

Our liquid cooled 50s with the 16mm Sunworld carb don't seem to have this issue like the aircooled 50s with the big OKO carb

I had the same problem with Logan's quad awhile back and again recently while trying to do some testing.
with the recent "bog" I simply put in a new torque spring and it was fixed. You might want to try the red spring.

Hi What carb comes on the 08 DRX 50's, do they all have the sunline carb? Thanks!

Posted by: bulldogfallon

That is how I order my 50s...With the Sunworld carb...Not sure about DRR or Les at Extreme.

I don't putting a heavy duty rear spring will help a 50cc...

Try a new "stock" torque spring to see if it helps

If you put in a stronger rear torque spring you may have to use heavier roller weights

Our stock set up works great...probably just a tired torque spring

I under stand a few 08's could have the OKO, and once they are gone the rest of 08' will be sunworld.
