I did a day ride yesterday, 9/17/07. Only 11 people out there riding. The dunes were smooth, it wasn't hot. My quad (05 450R, FCR 39mm, Pulse Charger pipe)was smoking my friend's cammed YFZ and than I got a little cocky. I told my friend I would start the race 20 feet behind him. I pulled a strong controlled wheelie off of the line and next thing I knew when my quad's front-end touched down I was going sideways and I hit tierra firma fast. After I pulled myself off of the sand, I found my quad with the handlebars broken in half. I have never seen a break like that before. My friend caught the footage on video so at least I got to see what happened (I had to document everything so my YFZ friend wouldn't have difficulty remembering). My shoulder is a little sore, but I still rode another friend's quad for the rest of the day. The sand is in great shape and the trip was well worth the day that I took off from work.
