Are the Extreme 90 2-stroke cases and the Apex 90 cases interchangeable?

yes most of the cases apex,drr,kasea,extreme,polaris,etc will work athough there are some subtle differences in some case but overall they are the same.

For the most part but we have seen some cases that would not "perfectly"match up. This hasn't really presented a huge problem but we'd prefer an exact match.

So you can swap out any of the cases. But if you do it is best to get a matching pair?
DRR L/R, Eton L/R and so on.

Yes. Because they are likely manufactured by different companies. The Eton and DRR cases are cast with a much better material.
