Gears slipping

I just got a blaster and it runs great, but second and fourth are slipping really bad. Second doesn't slip when in the powerband for some reason but slips at lower RPM's. Fourth kinda just kicks in and out of gear constantly. Anyone know how to fix this? Do they have a rebuild kit for the gearbox or anything like that?

Also just curious, what would it take to wake the quad up a little bit without spending a whole lot of money?

Sure it's not your clutch slipping?

not to sure about the tranny issues although it sounds like its the clutch and to wake it up throw on a pipe and a set of reeds, and drill some holes in the airbox lid (your local shop should have some white bro's 1 in. inserts you can buy that will stop big crap from getting through the holes you drill but still allow much better air flow)...and i'd have to say that a port and polish did wonders for my blaster motor back when i had it

The clutch slipping was on my mind but why would it only slip in 2nd and fourth? I can put it in sixth and fly down a straight for 5 minutes and it doesn't do it once.

How do I fix the clutch slipping?

You said something about it coming out of gear. Does it come out of gear and do you have to put it back in gear to keep going or does it just rev high without any forward movement. My boys Blaster recently smelled kinda funny ( hot ), he said it was revving high in fifth gear and when he shifted it was ok. I'm thinking the clutch is slipping. It launched fine and pulled good off the hole shot, I'm going to tear into it and check it out. If it's coming out of gear it may be a different problem.

I don't have to put it back into gear, it just feels like it's going in and out. like in fourth it will just kinda go back and fourth between gear and neutral pretty much rendering the gear useless. First, Third, Fifth and Sixth it will pull fine though. Second slips out when not in the powerband.

The problem with second gear is most likely worn parts, maybe the shift star is worn. Sounds like with fourth gear your clutch is slipping.

yea man my 4th gear is messed up on my blaster too we tore the motor apart when i got it cuz the kid sed it had no fourth only sumtimes we took it apart and found the one fork wore down pretty good replaced that then put it back together and now when i get it in 4th it revvs real high but no movement like its neutral....... but i can get it to kik in once in a while if im going slow but itll slip really bad

I changed out the clutch over the weekend and there isn't any slipping anymore.

buy a clutch out of rockeymoutainatv/mx

besides a pipe if you really want to wake it up put in a vito's superstock piston kit. if your still on the stock bore just go to a .020.
