ok, i hadda black 2005 450r..after about 10 hours of riding on a new oil change it started to use oil, so i changed it again and after about 10 hours it started to use oil again...it doesn't smoke or anything but i checked the rings and piston anyway and it all looked good...i then went and bought an 07' and sold the 05'...this guy bought it for his kid, and then he comes back to me wantin to sell it to me for $1500 less than what i sold it to him for, said it was to much for his kid, so now i got it back, lol......i changed the oil in it, but havent got to ride it since i got it back......

now that u know my life story, u guys got any idea what could be wrong with it? lol

are we talking alot of oil here or what? The 450r's are known to use a little oil over the coarse of an oil change. As long as there no lost in power, and its not smoking, just keep an eye on the oil.

my buddies old motor was transferring the motor oil to the tranny side. sign of a crank bearing or seal going bad.

You're going 10 hours between oil changes?? WOW!!! These things hold less than one quart of oil on the crank side, you need to replace your oil very very often! I'm not surprised you are down on oil after 10 hours.

Thats what I was thinking....
After 10 hrs they should be low on oil.
Oils cheap,change it more often!
Run it!

Just ride it for another 5 and then you can change your oil when you swap out the piston!

well i know what u mean, but its kinda hard to change it every 10 hours when u ride 8 hours each time u ride...i ride XC guy it has a 4 gallon IMS tank and two of those are gone usually on each ride, lol...hard to take an oil change with u on the trail...so it sounds normal if it is kinda low after that much riding time?
