Rear suspension dogbone linkage bar for my 86 frame with a 88 shock?? It measures 7''1/4'' from end to end NOT eye to eye. Throughout the buying process ive ended up with 3 links and this one is in the best shape...Thank you all for your input...J

I'm pretty sure thats an 88-89 dogbone..I have one I could measure if you would like.

great!! Do you know if that will work with a 86 swinger or will i need one of my longer ones since the arm itself is 1" shorter on the 88/89

all dog bones will fit any year quad or atc. the shortest being the (i believe) 87-89. which measures about 5 3/4" eye to eye.

the shorter the dog bone, the higher the ride height.

thank you the rest of my links are in pretty rough shape with alot of scrapes and bends from whatever.The other two i have are right at 3/4'' longer....ill give it a shot...thank you again

Different ride heights, different motion ratios. Yes, they will all bolt up, but that doesn't mean they are correct. I can bolt up a set of stock shocks to a set of +3 Long Travel arms, but that doesn't mean they will work correctly.

Yeah, I know. Different lengths will alter all the angles of the entire linkage, which will change the motion ratios of the rear shock.

Not only will it change the ride height, it will also change the way the rear shock performs.

i agree. hard to beat a fine tuned aftermarket suspension. its a must for some serious mx-ing or xc-ing. infact, with todays hp #'s that these engines are putting out today. you best have a suspension to be able to handle the hp's. nothing worse than riding a quad that has more horses than the suspension can handle but, if i didnt read wrong i believe he'll be ok. seeing how the oem shock is adjustable.
