Could someone please explain to me why people call Shep "the iron man". I by no means want to down grade anyone I do not know who most of these people are and I found everyone at the race to be great people. I try to go to races and get my name out thier and it seams like most of the time people say who is that guy and life goes on. But I think if people understood what went on the week before the race they would under stand what kind of person I really am . Monday ( Before The race) I started with a frame that I took two totaled frames peiced together and made one to race with. Tuesday started gathering all my stock parts and started the build. Late Wednesday night I finally got it running, ran like ***** Thursday tried to adjust the carb didn't work, took a carb off my race bike (motocross bike) and it ran great. Got to ride it enough to say I think I can race it and loaded it into the trailer. Friday straight after work I drove up to the race. Not having any clue what the weekened was going to be like. Met some great people before the race and tried to get a few pointers because I have never raced a harescramble before and I was about to do it all on my own, Ironman style. Todd Senger (spelling?) Jeff and Jason Robbins help motivate me. I was hoping to go out thier and at least finish without any problems with the bike. Little did I know I would lap half my class and win. It was the funnest, hardest race I ever did. I would like to race a few more now that I know what it is all about. This story might be a joke to most people but considering the odds put up against me I am very proud of what I accomplished. I did this race only to prove to myself I could finish a six hr race. And I will never forget it. I want to thank everyone envolved with putting on this race.

Ride hard,
Nick Vitale

Hey,, does anybody remember that guy that raced the Ironman and did so well he lapped his whole class??
Wasn't it Vic something???? lol
Killer job Nick!! It was really nice racin with you...
Keep up the good work---- think up a really cool name for yourself like..
Nicola, The Nickster, Nick Knack, NicKing, SputNick, Just the Nick of Time...,
Stuff like that.
Lets help Nick with a race (Profile) name.. cmon!!!

vitale you are the true IRONMAN GREAT JOB ON YOUR FINISH! but with that said.....everyone that raced it was a ironman! but to those 10 of us that did the 6 hour solo an extra great job. i applaud your last minute efforts to get the bike ready, we have all been there. i probally could have raced harder and won the race i just didnt want to go to the hospital with dehydration. i took several breaks and hung out with my great pit crew. i just came out to have a good time and finish without getting hurt. sorry you took the comments wrong. hope to see you at future races and come and say at my pit area.

Well I'm surprised that you would take offense. Sorry I didn't have the chance to get to meet you. When I posted the picture of Tony and called it Ironman it was because that's what class he rode. Sounds like you had a week of getting ready that is on par with what we go through often. We've got 3 racers in our family to get ready everyweek so welcome to the die hard atv racing club! Did we at least get a picture of you up? That's the thing too there were a lot of racers that I knew for sure who they were when I posted them up, alot of us have been racing together for years and we're always ready to welcome more. Great job on your finish there "Ironman".

I undrestood why You wrote Ironman by his name (his class). I may have wrote things the wrong way I don't want to defend anyone. You do a great job with coverage and pics. I think all classes should get aknowledged for thier finishes. Not just for this race I mean raes everywere. Pro coverage is what people want but thier is racers everywhere who struggle week to week just to race on the weekends and when they do ok it just drives them to be great. I know everyone who races have storys like mine. I like reading them becouse it motivates me to succed. With three racers I bet your shop is a mad house before races.

Shep had such a great time Ironmaning the 6hr, you would not believe what he has gone an done. He has signed up to Ironman the 12hr. I guess that he did not get beat up enough or he hit his head to many times and doesn't know any better.
Best of luck Tony at the 12 hr.
