Ok I see alot things flyin around about people changing sprockets.. Some are only adding 1 to the back or taking 1 off the front.. Im curious what the majority of you guys are all running and if you like it better or worse! I myself am looking to go down 1 to a (13T) front. Let me know what you all think!!

Im goin w/ a 13t up front

im running 13/38 gearing and love it for tight woods racing

Posted by: DVXracer

Im running stock and love it for mx

Posted by: slomofo

I run a 13T and love it. it makes the gearing stock when i run my 20" paddles. i am going to go with a 38 or 39 in the rear so i have the same snappy response when i run my paddles as i do with my 18" dirt tires on. when that happens, i will run my 14T on the front in the dirt, and 13T in the sand since fronts are easier to change

Posted by: blholtz

were can you get a 39 tooth all I have seen is a38

Posted by: slomofo

most sprocket places will do a 39. hell i just saw one on ebay for 20 bux. can't remember the brand. just a plain old steel sprocket and they would do 35-39 teeth depending on what you want

Posted by: culichi

i just putted a 13 tooth sproket on front, do i need to take one link of the chain??

Posted by: 450Rchaser

No I put 13t on mine and the chain had enough adjustment.

Posted by: culichi

well its that my chain its a little sloppy and the response its wierd because it takes a little

Posted by: 450Rchaser

Did u adjust your chain at all?

Posted by: culichi

nope not at all

Posted by: 450Rchaser

hehehehehe ok but how do i adjust it, because i never want to mess with the chain so i send it to a mechanic

Posted by: 450Rchaser

Are you kidding me? You dont no how to adjust your chain. Suzuki has one of the simplest designs on there quads.

Posted by: ingleful

yeah its a hell of alot easier than my 400ex chain!!

Posted by: culichi

im sorry that i dont know, but can you tell me how i got practice on wednesday..

Posted by: 450Rchaser

Ok either look it up in the owners manual. But if u dount have one. Loosen the 4 nuts on rear of swingarm. On the sprocket side there will be some holes to insert a round piece of metal like a screwdriver. an allen wrench may work. Roll the quad forward until u get the right amount of slack. The Z400 has to be the most simple design ive ever seen. Loosen the nuts and turn a bolt to tighten. But anyway, that should get u on the right track. I will try to remember to take pics if i remember.

thanks alot!!

Hey Scro we are going to Westpoint on the 8th of Sept. Probably want get there until about noon.

Have you ever been up Airborn?

Posted by: culichi

i couldnt get the chain to thignthen not even a little i un tied the back swingarm bolts and move the atv but nothing happened am i supposed to do anything aelse did i didnt get it right sorry first time...

Posted by: 450Rchaser

See those holes I sent you a pic of. Put a philips head screw driver in the. You mite have to put it thru one of the spokes in the sprocket too. Then role it.

that's what i do.... loosen the bolts then i line up a hole in the sprocket with one of the holes in the carrier and stick a philips screwdriver through both, then either push or pull your quad depending on whether you would like to tighten or loosen the chain. once your at your desired chain tension, tighten the bolts back up, and your good to go

Sounds good. Yeah, I've been up it. It's really not that bad, as long as you stay in the gas

Posted by: 450Rchaser

Cool, ive been debating on it. I no my 450 has enough power to get up it. It would be such a big tumble for a 4 wheeler to take

Posted by: joecrack85

i changed to 20" maxxis razors int the back and put the 13 tooth on and the bike wasnt back to normal. it wouldnt even rev out in 5th. i put a 38 tooth on the back and kept the 13 tooth up front and now it feels fine
