The only swingarm skidplate with linkage coverage I can find is PRM. I have heard most people like them. My question is, does anyone make just a small linkage skid - like on a Z-400 - to use with a regular swingarm skid instead? My other question is the linkage coverage really necessary? I just bought my YFZ and it seems really exposed to me. Has anyone damaged the linkage during woods riding and is it common? I just want to know before I buy the PRM Z-plate since it is on the heavy side. Thanks.

There is no bolt hole for a link only type skidplate on the YFZ so if you want linkage coverage PRM is the way to go. I run a GT Thunder XC linkage so the PRM doesnt fit, I went w an Armadillo skid that just protects the rear of the swingarm and I have not hit the linkage at all. I ride and race in the Northeast (All rocks) and the linkage looks new.
