i bought a 400ex about 2 weeks ago and the day after i was riding and the head gasket blew so i had the dealer i bought it from fix it and when they were fixing it they said they found a 440 big bore kit in it, and that if i were to keep it that way i would have to real careful with how i ride it. if you guys have any tips for me on how to keep it from blowin head gaskets and stuff i would really appreciate it.
thanks

HD head studs.

HD headstuds for sure. That will keep the head gasket from going.

dont ride the living piss out of it. or rev it all the way to the limiter.... since its likely a high compression piston in there its gonna try to pull the studs appart with the compression.
there are people on here that say they've never blown one with the stock studs, (dont meant it cant happen of course) just try and ride it normal and not keep it revved high for too long... you'll know when you are riding it too hard.

the studs will fix the problem. i blew 2 gaskets. stock studs stretched and pulled out. replaced them with the HD studs and its fine been like 5 months since then and nothing has happened.

not a bad thing to find out really... so how long were you riding a 440 and didn't know it. Did you have it up against any stock 400's?

yea on top of hd studs i would maybe consider a larger or extra oil cooler to help prevent over heating.....

Make sure you are using fuel with a high enough octane also.
