Yamaha Base and Headgasket replacement?

Any tips concerning this? It has a rough idle and I see that it needs a new base gasket or the one thats on the left side on the crank case. I would assume that its the base gasket. It didn't start doing this until recently. I know you have to pull it the jug off and all that stuff. I am going with Cometic head gaskets so I won't be doing this again.
