Hey,

I don't know if this is on anyone else's 400ex but on the left side of the engine, there is a dent in the engine cover. The piece that says honda on it. it's not small dent either. the right side of the cover is like dented in. Is that normal?

are the "dents" near the shifter and brake pedal on each side? if that were the case that would be fine as it is meant to be like that

Posted by: REDRIDDER

I this the dented spot if so theirs supposed to be no dents.

Posted by: Ruby Soho

the one right near the shifter pedal is supposed to be there

yes that is normal lol.. i was confused for a minute i forgot that the case says HONDA on both sides lol..

haha yea thats what I was talking about. Do you know why there is a dent there?

Posted by: Ruby Soho

i always thought for the shift lever.. but that sticks past so idk

Normal. I wondered the same thing when I bought mine so I just drove to the dealer and looked at a new one...its there.

I dont really see a reason for it. My sifter has plenty of clearance.

Posted by: Allison55ex'er

its probably clearance for you foot if u adjusted the shifter way up which i dont know anyone that does that but that has to be the reason

lol yeah only if bikes were nice enough to dent haha. the metal is terrible in bike engines. they dont dent they shatter. well most of the time i get good sized chunks that brake off. my stator cover snapped clean out the other week. picked on up off ebay for 13. painted it flat black and now it looks nice again
