Has anybody had to adjust the valves on a Cannondale? How much did it cost? If you did it yourself, was it hard?

Posted by: Pappy

not yet....lol but....it shall be done!!!!

Posted by: justfine

I really like the dampener you got for the Cannibal. You are really tricking that thing out. What next?

Posted by: Pappy

haha..i still have the skids and bumpers to install....then im thinkin the hmf complete system. the black plastic did scratch so ....maybe a change to the silver.

Posted by: justfine

You know? The Full-Bore plastic? Kind of trick. The gas tank is what stopped me. Only 1 gallon.

1 gallon mine went thru gas like rico thru a six pack i think i will switch to stock silver...lol

I had Marcums do mine last week and they replaced a couple of the clutch plates while they were checking things out. Seems that the inside plates bend after heavy use (Kenny probably won't have to worry about this:devil ). They are now using an 8 plate system instead of the ten plate system. Let's just say I was very happy with my bill.

do the 2003s have the 8plate setup or just certain ones?

Posted by: wyndzer

All the Dale's that are built after 9-30-02 have the 8 plate clutch.

is it like the ex where you just remove the valve covers or do you need to take apart the whole top part of the valve cover ( do you guys now what i am trying to say)???

So you averaging about 45 minutes of riding time per gallon huh..

You have to drop the motor down then pull the valve cover off. The valves are setup just like a YZ426 with a shim and bucket. Rowlrag and I raced YZ four strokes for 3 years, we checked the valves often but they never needed to be adjusted. I am hoping the Cannoncales will be the same way.

I think the lack of having to adjust your valves is caused from the lack of not knowin how ta drop the hammer down..:blah LMAO
