Hey im looking at these quads but im not sure which one is the best deal and what quad beats the other. Ive owned a 250r in pass so i know what it can do.but as far as mods and money whats be best deal. and which quad will out preform the others.
1st choice
$6000
LTR-450
mods-YOSHIMURA "Cherry Bomb", FMF PowerCore 4 Muffler
2nd choice

3rd choice

3. RPM rear axle: Wider, gives more stability; as are the a arms
4. '06 carrier, swing arm, and rear suspension: There were difects in the '04 swing arms so we replaced it.
Engine
1. Curtis Sparks Full System Exhaust: Stepped header, this is my favorite upgrade to it all the bike. It makes a deep throaty sound that really brings the beast out of the 450.

LTR is a no no the yfz alredy has stuff done to it and its widened out ppl only get ltrs so they dont gotta spend money on a arms why get a slower bike when u can get 1 of the other 2 faster ones?

The YFZ is looking pretty good man, i'd have to say that would be my choice, simple as that

in the new august 2007 dirt wheels it says "yamaha's yfz450 is already an excellent trail and dune machine. On most tracks it's the fastest. a simple set of wheel spacers would make it faster at any track. An efi sytem would make this machine great. This feature would silence our complant of the heavy throttle. In 2008, hopefully yamaha will add this feature. even without it the yfz is the best all around stock 450 high performance sport atv available today."
the throttle is easy to fix just by a 450r throttle used or anything and it works great. I love the throttle personally
the Y beats the trx450r, lt-r450, and the new kfx450r
the max hp is:
kfx450r 40.78
lt-r450 39.22
trx450r 37.14
yfz450 39.33
weight dry
450r 350
kfx 364 (with the only aluminum frame)
ltr 368
yfz 350

Holy ****, you're going to argue about less than one horsepower. Do you think this stuff through before posting jibberish? No two quads will dyno exactley the same. There are far too many variables to have exactley consistant runs. Tire pressure, slicks vs. knobbies, air temperature, humidity etc. You could make a pull and get 38 hp only to have the next come in at 36.5 hp.

The 250R seems like the best bang for your buck, but the YFZ isn't bad either. The LTR seems quite overpriced.

no... he doesnt...

most people try to use slicks when they dyno lol

I like the 250r (I dig LSR a-arms and Ohlins shocks). If you would rather have the 4 stroke, the YFZ would be my pick.
As for hp numbers, I don't really know. But, my Dale has been able to handle most every 450 I've been up against except an LTR with cherry bomb. So regardless of the hp, the LTRs are fast.

its from the dirt wheels mag.
i never rated the ltr kfx or the trx
450r can in second right behind the Y
the kfx and ltr were very close it doesn't say which is better
Posted by: dr.dyfz
the Y and trx are going to vary in hp more because their not efi
the kfx and ltr are going to be closer each time
but dude i didn't rate them only the winner (of course)
the hp doesn't mean that much. a quad with alot of power would neccesarily be better than a quad that handled awsome and had some power.

yea i read it, went out and bought it few hours after i read the post. honestly tho it all comes down to the person. what they prefer and their feel and likes. the article wasa good read and having road 2 different yfz's and 3 trx's im sticking with a trx cuz the yfz in my opinion is overated and does not impress me what so ever.
oh yea and they never said really what was 3rd to them but id take a kfx over the y also just because id enjoy reverse lol

I agree with what previous posts have said, I'd rather have a Honda myself, but that seems to be a decent deal on a YFZ. I've ridden one and it was pretty nice. And that one already has quad rate Elkas? MUCH better deal on taht YFZ than that LTR... like someon else said, LTR seems way over priced.
But then again, I have a 250R. Love it.
I'd get the YFZ. . . . Never thought i'd say that. . .
