Wire lights directly to battery?

I just bought an 04 YFZ. It has the resistor kit. It also has had the factory light/start/stop switches removed. I am trying to wire up my Ricky Stator light kit and am having some trouble. I had a wiring diagram but I still can't get it figured out.

Here are my questions.

1. Can I simply wire the lights directly to the battery?
2. If so, do I need to remove the resistor kit?
3. If not, can someone help me figure out what wire to tap into and where it would normally be located.
