I was reading an ATv Action mag today or whatever its called and they said that the KFx is the most race ready 450 out there ...How can this be i thought the lt-r 450 and the ATK's were?

ATV actions and Dirtwheels piss me off with some of the s#!* they say. I remember reading a couple of years ago in ATV action that the 2004-2005 yfz needs motor needs to be updated to be a true 450CC and simular to the 06 because it was way under powered compared to the 06 yfz motor. They had a article on this and they had totalled around $2000 . I like quad magizine and atv sport more than dirtwheels and atv action, they usually have something a totally different point of view than dirtwheels and atv action.
The KFX is no where near race ready.

maybe for someone who is running a stock class hare scramble or something, but if someone is any kinda competitive race they change just about everything, on all quads.

yeah no quad stock is "race ready" i think the ltr would be the closest with those a arms but dont ask those retards at dirtwheels, they say (in a the august 07 450 shootout mag i bput yesterday) that the yamaha isnt good at one thing.....its GREAT at everything, yeah im a little biased when i say that kawi or honda shoulda won but DW had no buisness burying the two like they did, those people will bit** about anything. but just as for my opinion i think the kawi offers more than the zuke efi, wide aarms, simple CB mod vs efi, alum frame, removable flares, reinforced rims, reverse, renthals.

just my thoughts

well i think the kfx is pretty race ready i raced one of my friends last weekend an i pulled the holeshot every time an was clearing all the jumps without bottoming out an i was racin built 450r's an yfz an ended up 2nd overall an it was the 2nd time id ever been on a track so if u ask me id say the kawi is a good race bike stock

congrats, i havent got to take mine to a track yet so i cant say how good they are set up for mx. but i do know i like how it handle in the woods, and could see how people can get holeshots with this thing.

and kinda off the subject in the last issue of dit wheels they said that the kfx lacked bottom end torque????? explain that one to me

ATV Sport and Quad did actual unbiased shootouts on the big 4, unlike Dirtwheels--I hate those guys.

yeah i read it and it said that the kfx wanders when riding it, i havent had that problem. maybe thaty had a flat

!!! where exactly can i find one of these stock "race ready" machines? how much do they retail for? are they reliable?, im sure they are afterall their atk im sure maintenence is a breeze, im sure the dealer / big catalouges stock dozens of air filters, oil filters for it because everybody has one because they can go to their local convinient ATK dealers (which i guess im the only one that dont have one) and buy one at anytime.

The point aint how convinient it is its that it is a stock quad that is race ready.

lets also compare prices, i picked my kfx up for 6700, how much is the atk? or even the ktm?

the ATK is right around 11,000 your KFX was 6700

now in order to make a KFX,450R,YFZ "race ready" your going to need at the very least $3000 in parts to make it a raceable machine that you could acually win on.

im not putting down the KFX,YFZ, or the 450R, i own a 450R and i love it but there is a truely race ready quad out there that all it needs is numbers, thats the point i was trying to make.

you can if you want, but your wont get LT a-arms, and good shocks for 3000, not including pipe, nerfs and everything else, some people don't want reverse either. again, im not saying you shouldnt go the KFX route, because im building a 450R, my point was that you CAN buy a 100% race ready quad if you want.

alright alright, the atk is a stock race ready machine if you can find one but for my money the $8000 "vr" or $11000 "mx" model seems a little steep, you see frame, suspension and stuff like that is worthless if you dont have a good reliable solid motor to haul it all and i dont know much about atks motors, thats why id rather spend around 7k for one of the big 4 (except yam.

) that way you get an almost sure thing reliable motor to build on and if something tears up then you can almost bet your big4 dealer can fix it.

with the correct engine builder, and parts you can make an ATK absolutely bullet proof.

What does that have to do with anything? The look's is about the last thing you should look into when a quad comes out. Everything besides that is what you should be looking for. The overall design of the chassis, engine, braking system, suspension and the specs of the quad.

you have riding talent

i think id rahter have a crappy looking quad that could endure a 2 hour xc race or handle a 90ft table top than a cool looking 250ex

lol i have about as much talent as u can have for a 250ex ... u can only do so much on these things once u get to a certain point in riding skill they no longer work for the fundamentals of sport riding

i think we maybe got off track a little, no i don not race i would love to try some harescramble or flat track. something in a stock class to start out in. i do get the point you are making, that they do sell a stock race ready bike, but i also think that we were talking about the most recent 450 quads to come out. i think the last time i seen an atk was in a dw buyers guide, or something.

the kfx 450 is actually believe it or not very race ready for being stock. it has more power than the other 450s in its class it may not be as wide as the ltr or as low but still corners great. Also the suspension is better than that of the honda suzuki and yamaha. This quad still could use some help but it is actually race ready. you just need to know how to ride it.

very well put, me and my buddy put up a creek jump and we were jumping 15-20 ft and i didnt bottom out once, very smooth stock suspension. one other thing i like about this 450 is its tendency to keep the front end down. i know comeing out of corners on other 450s the front end wants to come up very easy but not on this one.

To me the Kawi seems very race ready right from the box and seems to be a very well built quad. However you can't depend on dirtwheels for a reliable review on a quad or product. Just check out the letters section in dirtwheels and you will see all of the morons with that the magazine targets for buyers.

yeah iv come to realise that about the only good thing dw has is ads, i love quad and have started to get into some of the others .
