kk guys, i found a good deal on a 2004 kfx 400... and i was wondering if anybody has like made a grab bar to fit them, like considering that the (grab bar is part of the sub frame) and also if u hit the grab bar on these will it bend the frame? and is there any other problems with the 2004 kfx 400's?
Thanks, Klay

the 03 is the first year and the only bad year with frame problems. in 04 they switched frame designs out and put a removeable grab bar on it. the grab bar should bend before the sub frame will. there are tons of after market companies that make new grab bars.

then its an 03 my friend. my dad has an early 04 and the grab bar bolts right on and off as well as any other 04. they either dont know the right year or are just lying to you..

i think YFZ450Ridr is right. if you go to the kawasaki site and look at parts (here) if you put in 03 and go to Protection, theres no grab bar upgrade. then put in 04 and there is one.

You can find a ton of different grab bars for it at rockymountainatv.com I just got the pro armor one and its wicked good looking and heavy duty.

YFZ450ridr is right because I have an 04' KFX and the grab bar just bolts right off. My friend has an 03' and I always give him s**t about his weak subframe and his inability to change his grab bar.

another way to spot 03s is the swingarm. 03s have 2 adjuster bolts sticking out the back end, while 04s and newer have just 1.
