OKO Fix!!!
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

It is actually pretty simple...
1- Remove OKO Carb
2- Drop in the ocean
3- Install Keihin Carb
Now go ride!!!
I have officially thrown in the towel......
I put a Keihin PE20 on our DRX70 today and it ran so much better.
If your local track will let you change the carb then do it...don't think twice...
I am working on making the Keihin an avaiable option as an upgrade so it may be able to repalce the OKO and allow you to run int stock classed locally....It won't be able to be used in Nationals that require the OKO.
It would be a way for us regular guys to use them instead of trying to tame the OKO monster!!

Any thoughts or similar stories of success or failure?

I made that fix earlier this month on the 50.
Welcome to the dark side.
Im ditching the OKO 24 on the 90 also.
Posted by: bulldogfallon
What carb and what settings did you find to work best?
The Keihin PE20 comes with a 58 pilot and the OKO comes with a 42 pilot
Posted by: riding4fun
I havn't messed with it yet. I was giving it some time to break in and see the results. The top end is good, it might need a smaller pilot jet. I will be adjusting before the next race.
If you get to it before me let me know your findings.

nobody loves a quiter, Gary you only have 2 0r 3 hundred hrs time in on that OKO.
Posted by: bulldogfallon
Try the pilot from the OKO first....which is a 42....
The main jet would probably be a 95 (lean is mean)
If you can make changes in your class, then I have a few things to help
Variator and a belt to match along with a CDI and I bet that 50 will pick up the pace
Unfortunatley I can't use any of this on my 50 (darn stock class)

We have had great results with the Keihin Carb.
I agree with ya on dropping it in the Ocean

O K ,gary , I tried what you said to do but i'm not sure I did it right . took quad to end of the pier ,tools in hand and followed your instructions
1. remove OKO
2. drop in the ocean( very big splash)
3. now that the quad is in the ocean I can't figure what to bolt the Keihin on. please advise becuase I look silly here at the end of the pier with 2 carbs in my hand watching my quad sink to the ocean floor . hmm

LOL....that was some funny stuff!

Is DRR still putting these carbs on the new units?
They should seriously consier ditching it.

I just wonder if part of the problem is that Lou being in Ohio has no access to an Ocean and was just referring to a large body of water...such as a lake in his case. Gary has availability to a salt water version of big water and I think this is where it has all gone wrong.
I think those of you living on the coast and when we refer to "ocean" need to actually find a Fresh Water source like they have in Ohio and then we would get similar results. I fully expect a tech bulletin to show up on Drr's site in the near future explaining this difference in situation.
I am willing to bet a river would work but usually a river has more silt so we will just have to see what comes from DRR
Hope that helps

Well I've not heard from bulldog so I got on my swim trunks so I can finish the carb mod I might as well dive right in. wish me luck.

NOPE. Me and bulldog were talking this weekend at the atv rally about that issue. The problem is a I beleive a trade issue. It would be nice If they came on the bikes stock. Thats why Bulldog wants to offer it up front on his bikes.

GOT IT it took two hours to get the kehin carb installed ( I kept having to come up for air ) .... I think next time it would be easier if we install the kehin carb before we drop the quad in the ocean
just my opinion,

So you are saying it worked fine regardless of the saltwater/freshwater discrepancy? I am not looking to head out to the coast...perhaps I can use a couple salt blocks from Farm and Fleet and use my kids pool? This is really getting complicated.
