i have a 88 mojave, and it would start, run fine, then all of sudden die and bog down. we decided to empty the gas tank, and clean the carb. now it is a pain to start (takes about 10 minutes) and also wont idle and run right. any ideas?

Take your idle adjustment screw all the way in and then back it out 2-1/2 turns. What does your plug look like?

one more thing, my dad adjusted the valves in it, cause it was ticking really bad. my buddy said that the valves could be to tight.

Did he use a manual? If he did they would be correct. It is possible to have them too tight.

he didnt use a manual. i dont think we have a mojave manual. and when he did it we were in the middle of no where.

Well, I strongly recomend getting yourself a manual. It is cheap and could save you a lot of money from improper maintenance. Just my $.02 Get your motor to top dead center and then check your valve clearances. Also like I tell alot of folks a plug check can tell you alot if you learn how to read it. Most of your manuals these days have a pictorial guide on reading plugs.

i will talk to my dad about fixing, he fixes a lot of them. he does this as a time killer mainly. i will check the plug and take a picture of it next time i get a chance. i have been workin a lot.
