just bought a new 525 outlaw! traded my new2007 trx 450er honda with a hrc kit in it, it kicked butt, that was paid for and worked great! for this outlaw i owe a couple grand on now. anyway, the wheels are getting that groove you all are talking about only after 1 hr, maybe 1.5 hours on this machine. the other problem is some how this quad has dumped out atleast half its oil in my truck after the first ride! i am tech certified and i know about break in, so i was taking it easy on the engine. called my dealer for more oil...called every dealer in my area who then finally called polaris corp cause not one dealer has the filters or the oil for this quad, called a ktm dealer and they got the filters atleast. still waiting til next week for some oil from a polaris dealer, im just getting filters and running a good syn in it. pretty ridiculous that they dont have oil or didnt even know what kind went in it, oh ya, owners manual isnt even right claims a ow-50 polaris ps-r plus, actually a ps-4 plus 2w-50 synthetic according to josh at polaris corporate, the bike runs awesome other then my oil gig that i hope to correct? it is awesome in the rough or trailing over even the telephone pole size trees at the slowest of speed, (havent messed with suspension and havent hit any high speed woops) with out getting stuck and the engine is fast, but my hondas power definetly hit harder, i just cant wait to open this ktm engine up with a pipe and such! hope my wheels dont rub thru, told polaris, they said it was from debri, but i wasnt running in rocks! just nicely groomed dirt trails. like i said, even if the wheels f up, im just hope'n thats it, ill just buy new rims and go, the rest of the quad makes up for it and i know theyll get my engine dialed in, found a good tech shop i hope in indianapolis. anyway just wanted you all to know that even the newest ones still have the rim issue, lets hope thats it! chad snyder 765 474 2029 crounpoint@gmail.com if you email me make sure you have subject in there or i will probably think its spam!

My rims had the grooves in them after the first one hour oil change. The story about debri is TOTAL BS!!
I did my one hour break in on the street which is paved. There was no debri involved.

for our rim isssue, I just filed off the nubs on the bottoms of the lower control arms. I am also dealing with getting the correct oil.
My owners manual says 0-50W and my service manual says 2-50W. K&N makes oil filters for the 525.

talked to ONE PERSON WHO CLAIMS has been told by polaris dealer? who knows , and others who just did grind off there lower a arm tabs, i think that is whats hitting and i am friends with the owner of badlands offroad park and he had an 06 and did grind them, claimed it worked and so does everyone else that says they did it? i would like to put one of my big friends on it and make the shock as soft as possible and lift it up with my scissor jack or my hydraulic lift and see if that is for sure the gig, looks like it is though. i guess i will probably go ahead and do it, i ended up finding a dealer this morning with the oil IT IS FOR POSITIVE SUPPOSE TO HAVE PS-4PLUS 2W-50 SYN....THIS IS STRAIGHT FROM JOSH AT POLARIS CORPORATE LINE FOR CUSTOMERS, THATS WHO I CALLED, ANYWAYS THANKS FOR ALL YOUR EMAILS , PLEASE KEEP ME UP ON YOUR GUYS problems with YOUR QUADS!

I have been using Maxima Ultra 5w-50 Full Syn in mine and getting a long great. The local KTM dealer said they use 15w50 in the dirt bikes. But for start up I like the 5w50 myself, plus it shifts some much better now with the Maxima in it.

HOW DID YOU HAVE IT IN THE TRUCK, VERTICAL? I CANT SEE HOW IT COULD LEAK JUST SITTING IN YOUR TRUCK OTHERWISE.

just loaded it in, rubber side down case bolt leaking, if you hadnt read. not the drain plug, but an actual case bolt on the left side below the rear oil filter, not the empty spot right below there, yeah, thats the one.
