me at the guy i race with used to go rip up the trails. but after a while he hit a tree to avoid another rider. we were going a little to fast for oncomming traffic. so we decided to keep the racing on the track. im racin this weekend so hopefully i can get some photos up next week sometime

not so good this week. 7th out of 14. mud race + bald tires = bad finish
. ill post pics as soon as the web site updates there pics. i got a few with a disposable camera that ill try and develop this weekend and put up. theres always next race i guess

heres some pics from practice up at pine ridge 2 weekends ago

on the other side of the barrier
Posted by: shallow518
runnin down my buddie
Posted by: shallow518
another of the table top
Posted by: Slinky
what are those barriers made of?
Posted by: shallow518
cement. so its going to hurt if you mess up
Posted by: Slinky
yeah thats a little scary!
Posted by: shallow518
its betteer than getting thrown into oncomming racers tho
Posted by: mak400ex
wow nice track - getting some air time - hope ya do better on the next race coming up, get ya some new tires, yeah the mud and i dont get along also - lol.
Posted by: 416HondaEX
nice pics, do you just race in a tshirt and jeans? or am i seeing wrong? lol
Posted by: shallow518
no you aint seeing wrong. i dont have the money for race gear and im real used to riding in just jeans and a tshirt. sometimes i wear a jersey but thats few and far between. i dont even have race boots. just wallmart specials that i use for work. i tend to get a few weird looks everytime im at the track. its a lot easier for my family to see me durin the race cause im usually the only one dressed like that.
Posted by: vAnS_77
No problem with that bro, ride on.
Posted by: shallow518
i have a correction. those barriers are not made of cement. they are foam. someone told me that they were cement but i asked some people who race there and they told me that there just foam. sorry about that.
Posted by: ohsobad_chevy
lol......I was gonna say, That would SUCK to slam into those if they were cement. Ouch!!!
Posted by: shallow518
lol. it sounded a little wrong when i thought about it. so i figured i would check into it a little more
Posted by: shallow518
heres a pic of me and my buddies quad after the races this weekend. some mud washed off on the way home cause it was raining. they were a lot worse. the pics from the race should be up any day now

There's nothing wrong with racing in blue jeans and a t-shirt. However you need to invest in some boots. Lace up work boots wont support your ankles good enough.
Posted by: shallow518
i found that out. i kinda sprained it 3 weeks ago racing. i lived on Ibuprofen for 2 weeks so i could race last weekend.
Posted by: mak400ex
wow ya said it was muddy, ya brought part of the track back with you, lol break out the power washer : )

Agreed, I know the **** is expensive, but shop around. I would highly recommend a chest protector if you don't have one. Those things are life savers!
I bought nearly all my riding gear off of the clearance rack with the exception of my pants and jersey, because the new style was on sale cheaper than the old style was on clearance (WTF??
) But it worked out for me, shop around online, you'll find some good deals
Posted by: 416HondaEX
Just like someone had said before about racing boots. You can pick up the last years model right now for pretty cheap since the new 09 gear is coming out in August. The 07 Fox F3 boots are now like $159.99 most places and you can even find boots for under like $75-$100, that would be my only recommendation. I don't feel right when I ride without my boots just trail riding. But as far as jeans and tshirt, theres nothing wrong with it cause it does the same as a jersey and paints most the time. Maybe a chest protector or roost guard.
I know how you felt with the mud, we raced at COCR here in Ohio and i swear to god i had every bit of 50 lbs of mud on my quad and we sprayed Pam and WD40 to keep it from sticking.
Posted by: shallow518
i have been shoppin around for boots and the prices aint to bad for let over models. how does spreying everything down with pam or WD40? ive herd of people doing that and always woundered if it actually worked.
Posted by: 416HondaEX
Well, put it this way, it rained the day before the race all day, and some the night before, then quit until about 30 minutes before the race and rained most the entire motos. So the clay/mud was so bad no pam or wd40 could ever help hahah. But i heard it helps with light mud and stuff.

But sad news, may be getting rid of the 400ex for the LTR450.

After me and my buddies ride at DandK park in Maysville KY. The place is really rocky and the trails seem ok until you get to the top and they progressively get ridiculous. I'd say we made it up 10% of the trails we tried.

on your plastics - sounds like its time for new or good used front end - i dont think there any way to fix it unless you can find some one that has a plastic welder, used frt plastic on ebay is cheap - or like ya said you can zip tie it,

thanks guys. the first place trophies were taller than me and im about 6 ft. the reason there so big was cause it was the state championships. i think im going to look into laker custom plastics. any one have these? how they fit and hold up?
Posted by: hypersnyper6947
for the plastics can you just use model glue, I know when i used to build models that stuff is like liquid weld for plastic, it melts it them dries to normal
def worth a try

i use a bobcat to do the track work. but just start piling up some dirt and make the lip and landing like u want it then hit it on ur quad...and if it dont feel right adjust it to like u want it

Hey Mak, that is about 30 mins from my house. Have you been to Appalacia in a while, just wondered if the water levels have deminished the riding any? I have rode below the dam once, but didn't really get to stay long, if I remember right, it is prett sandy, are there trails or good jumping?

i would spend the money on a 400ex instead of upgrading your suspension - i have both 400 and 450 and the 400 is a great all around quad, and parts are pretty cheap to get, just changing the frt shocks to 450r gives ya a great suspension
oh yell tell your buddys to take a break and shoot some pics

The one day rides are okay in this heat, but it sure gets hot when you spend a whole weekend at the dunes.
Our group will start riding heavily again when it cools off, usually around mid september or so.
Do you all ride at Little Sahara any?

even though i'm sure that hurt, its still a sick picture. Where were you riding? and what kind of riding is all of that called? is it a specific type of race ?
Posted by: DuwBra
Isnt that called QTC? I dont know what it stands for.
Posted by: stoopidbot
It is called Quadcross, It had a section of logs, rocks, a water crossing and some other little obstacles. This is in Denver, a local shop puts on a couple of competitions a year. Yeah, it hurt. Took me out of the race.
My girl took 2nd in the UTV class!

This is pic of me yesterday in the mountains of Colorado, Elevation was at about 13,000 feet.

Stoopidbot, I know that Colorado has some high elevations, but how much of a pain in the *** is your jetting. Did you have to adjust it all due to the altitude? What altitude did you start at?
Regardless, awesome PICS!!!
Posted by: stoopidbot
I set my jetting for about 7,500 -10,000. That usually does the trick. Rides like that, you really feel the power loss. It's not to often the trails go above 10,000. At least the ones we do. The higher trails are more advanced, so I don't take my lady on those.

It'd be sick if it was possible to adapt the ltr efi to the 450r. And if it is possible, its probably not worth it, haha.
Im waiting for yamaha and honda to release the new models

Rumor has it Honda is putting EFI on the 2010 CRF450. If that's true, I'd expect it to be on the TRX in 2011.

Sweet!! Our family used to go to Leadville, CO every year. All the old mining sites and not to mention Turquoise lake is absolutely beautiful in the morning. Caught some very nice trout out of that lake.
Posted by: stoopidbot
That whole area of Leadville and Buena Vista has amazing riding. The 4 Mile area is one of my favorite spots. Heres a few more pics from the other day.
This is some of the wild life you come across when above tree line.

A couple of scenic shots from 12,897 feet to be exact. You can actually see the tree line in the back ground. Pine trees do not grow at this altitude.

I would love to ride my quad there, but we pulled the jeep, so there was no extra room for a quad. I can't wait to go back to Leadville, between jeepin' and fishing, it don't get no better.

I will be in Harlan County next week! Is that near you?

Thats about 6 hours from me. Good riding. The elevation change should be a good breath of fresh air. I went on vacation to pikes peak one year. Couldn't breath and had nose bleeds constantly.

That's hilarious, I know what you mean. I moved here from Los Angeles. I went from about 10 feet to 5,000 feet above sea level.

Nice scenery pics, stoopidbot! I bought a blazer while i was out there and did some back country exploring in the winter. GOOD TIMES!! I moved back to Ohio after the ski season was over, so I've never seen the countryside green and dry! Now that I'm into quads, I may have a damn good reason to move back so I'll have something to do the rest of the year!
And you're right, ohsobad_chevy, turquoise lake is beautifull...anytime of day really!!

Nothin too serious, just getting bored to a 406 with a 11:1 wiseco along with an xr400 head gasket. I wanted to go with a 416 but the bore shop said "I wont do that it's taking off way too much"
haha. I'm actually kind of debating going to a different place just because he said that

I definitely don't think that a 416 is too much when built well. I would go with the 416 over the 406, I think you would be happier with it.
Posted by: Ruby Soho
definitely take it elsewhere! the 406 will be a noticeable gain but i think youd be happier wiht the 416, do you have a cam to go along with it?
Posted by: BlasterEaten250
I'm pretty low on money right now since I just bought those dang shocks so no cam for now
there's actually a possibility it may just be blown rings. im not in too much of a rush to figure it out though because I just got my wisdom teeth taken out haha
