hey guys
just cleaned the carb on the ol 86' and now it idles high, I have checked slide and the needle and they are fine, the throttle cable is not bound up or anything and now I am out of ideas. One bore .20 over, K&N, stock exhaust. Running 148 main and 48 slow, needle clip is on 4th. Jets have nothing to do with idle right? It ran just fine, it has just been sitting for like 6 months. Any ideas?

Could it be as simple as adjusting the idle knob on the carb? Assuming you didn't mention anything about that adjustment because you figured it "goes without saying", I'd check for air leaks.

Yeh, check the choke, and the idle.

Did you put the carb back on the manifold correctly?

Check for air leaks, and also just try adjusting your idle knob. It very well could be something that simple.

also make sure the cable isn't binding and not allowing the slide to return all the way down.
