What paddle tires should I get for the sand?

Gonna need some paddle tires for pismo and was wondering which ones I should get? Brand and model please!!!!

Also should I get rims with tires or just buy the tires?

Skat Trak Haulers. Size depends on if you're going to be primarily duning, or drag racing.

Well I would say duning but Im sure Ill get pulled into lots of guys wanting to run me, so I guess Ill need a all around good sand tire.
One that can do both!!!! Or **** if they are cheap Ill just buy a set of good sand drag racing tires and good dune tires.
So what are my options?

Haulers are not cheap, but very worth it. I would go with a 20x11x8 8 paddle Hauler.

I guess the size is 20x10x8, I couldn't remember if it was 10 or 11 wide.

The ams are always good, and they are pretty cheap. They are just as good as the haulers.

I will disagree there, as I've had the opportunity to try both tires. The only tire I would buy over a Hauler would be comp cut Padla Brats.

maybe u are right, and i have never heard off these tires, and i have rode both haulers and ams sandsnakes on my 400ex, the haulers and very nice, in the sand you just give it gas and it floats, yet a cheaper side is these sandsnakes, and i have them now and they are not as good, yet they get the job done and still float over the sand nice, but these tires that u are talking about are problably nice, they look exactly like the sandsnakes, ill prob have to try them out

the padla brats are VERY expensive due to how they are made, but they are also very light, about 9.5 lbs per tire AND rim with the comp cut.

thats the lightest sand tire out there. My 20x10x8 8 paddle regular buff haulers are 14.5 lbs per tire and rim (.125 douglas)

I've got lots of time on various haulers on everything from an 85 ATC250R to a Rap700. I've got just a brief period on comp cut 6 paddler Brats (with someone elses LTR450). It wasn't really enough time to get a full sense of the Brats. But when I combine the experience I did have with the Brats' reputation and my experience with various style and weight paddle tires--the Brats are what I want to buy next. I've actually even comp cut a set of Sand Sharks myself as an experiment. I'm sold on the benefit of ultra light tires.

Too bad the Brats cost so much.

I just recently saw a set of USED comp cut 6 paddle Brats that where $350.

One thing about comp cut Brats I'm told is they are kind of a "high maintanence" tire. They like to loose air and my need refilling each morning and aren't very tollerant of sticks, rocks, etc. It's normal to actually see some cords showing here and there on comp cut brats. I believe they are really a no-compromise performance tire above all else.

FWIW, most of my duning is at the ISDRA. I know what works there. I couldn't say what works best in other dunes (I'm mostly thinking of paddle count).

Definitely get tires with rims. You don't need expensive rims for dune tires. In fact, I prefer basic .125 rims Douglas rims for the sand and those don't cost much at all.

GP, when you buy them new, they give you the option to put tire slime in the tires. They say to run the slime in the tires for a few trips, then to pop the tires off the rims and remove the excess slime. This fills up any leaky areas and supposedly the tires hold air fine after this, but does add a half pound of weight per tire.

sand stars or sand sharks. any V-paddle tire. they are way better for carving the dunes and stuff like that.
